It is 100% legal. The car is not stolen. I know you need to get police clearance and after the whole proccess it gets licenced as a code 3 rebuild. But how do I go about doing that, and how long does it take?

We had to do this with a trailer we purchased. The license had been allowed to lapse years before, so effectively it had been removed from the vehicle registry. It wasn't a lengthy process.

We got the police clearance, had to get the trailer weighed at the local scrap traders' (!), took all the documents and letters etc and went to the local licensing office. A cinch.

Ask your local licensing office exactly what docs you need -- I can't remember.

Good luck ;o)
