Buying & Selling - March 2007

I've always liked classic cars, having owned a few Minis (I loved them to bits, even if they did have the structural integrity of a wet tissue). I restored and modified them tastefully on a slim budget and sold them on to first-time buyers for a healthy profit.

Now I am a little older I want to try something bigger, like a Porsche 911 SC. My question is, with the current environmental climate, are cars with this sort of fuel consumption bad ideas as future investments, as people are going to be less and less likely in want of an older car that is this thirsty?

Thanks!

I bought a car from a used car dealer in Arkansas and found out the second day that it has a blown head gasket and will cost a couple grand to fix along with 10 other codes that need to be fixed. I need to know if it can be legally returned.

I found a car at a local dealer that seems to be $3000 under the blue book value. It is a 2 year old Toyota. The vin# report on the car shows one owner and no history of damage, accident or mechanical problem. It has just under 20,000miles and the body/interior seems to be in good condition. Why would it be so cheap? What should I look out for?

Truck is a 1990 and the overdrive doesn't work and I told her it didn't work I only had it for 36miles myself when I found out I couldn't afford more car insurance. She has already driven it at least 40 miles herself. She is threatening to take me to court and I can't afford to lose. I work with this person. What should I do? Gossip is she's sending me a certified letter from a attorney. I live in Michigan. HELP PLEASE

I need to find the previous owner of a lowboy trailer. I know the VIN number but it is from 1975 and has a short VIN. Regular searches show only those after 1980. I need one that will find the older ones. Thanks

Ok Im looking at a mazda cx7 for $32065... Has everything I want except for the front windows being tinted.

Do you think I'd be getting a good deal if I were to buy that for $32065 on the conditions that: they include the price to tint the front windows in the $32065... AND they include the tax and any fees in that $32065?
In otherwords, I'd pay $32065 flat out and nothing more for taxes or window tinting.

Opinions appreciated... advice also highly encouraged that would help me even better. Like do you think I could do better?

This is not the only deciding factor of whom i buy from it also is dependent on who gives me the most money for my trade. (I don't want to fuss around with selling my present car). Any financing I need I will be acquiring on my own as the dealer will not be allowed to run any credit checks on me.

I know what I want and will walk away from anyone who pushes me to buy any other car or holds my keys ransom or pressures me in any way.

I might purchase a vehicle that was originally sold in New York. Would it have the necessary equipment to pass California emissions standards?

The vehicles I'm looking at are BMW's made after 2001.

my husband has good credit and has his cdl. He has worked at a nuclear plant for years but the layoffs are getting too many and stressing us out. He went to his bank and they told him they dont know if they can lend him the money since these arent used for personal use. He is wanting to contract himself throughout our community (which there is more than enough need). Can you give us some options.
