Ok I have a 98 Mitsubishi Eclipse w/ 120k miles (automatic, 4 cylinder) and it has tons of scrapes and scratches on the body, a door that is totally messed up and an engine that just BARELY runs. A dealer wants to do a straight trade on a 95 (or 96, can't remember) Dodge Neon with clean body, nice interior and 150k miles. The original price he had on it was $450, but he said he'd give me a straight trade. Should I do it? I mean I need a running car immediately so I can get to work, so I can't really be choosey and this sounds like a good deal to me. But I don't know alot about cars, plus I'm a girl and dealers like to get over on us. SO I NEED ADVICE ASAP!!

This car was purchased by a 21 year old girl who paid cash for the car. The dealer said that the title would be released when insurance was purchased but he allowed her to take the car. Insurance was purchased. The car has out of state registration. Now the dealer refuses to release the title unless the car has current state inspection.

First, let me apologise for the few not so nice things I have done. I cannot excuse myself, but MAYBE I can use the experience to help others here. So, what would you like to know?

In other words, after buying a new vehicle, what is the optimal time to own it before selling it?

Since cars depreciate in price over time (and miles) I'm trying to decide when the best time to sell is. For example, after six years? After 100,000 miles? etc. Obviously, this would not take into account the condition of the car.

I have a 1995 Oldsmobile Achieva S Coupe. It has approximately 87,000 miles that I can sell for about $1000. I have the chance to buy a 1993 Honda Accord EX Sedan with 134,000 miles for around $2500. There is nothing majorly wrong with either car other than the fact they are both older. The timing belt has been changed on the Accord. I would like to either continue driving my car for 2-3 years or hope that the Honda would last 2-3 years. Should I take my chances and buy the more reputable and reliable Honda or just stick with what I have? Any advice appreciated, thanks!

For a car dealer to sell an unsafe truck... the springs are held on by garden hose clamps with a 10 inch lift... i live in nevada

I DID TAKE IT BACK TO THEM TO HAVE IT FIXED AND THEY WELDED SOME SUPPORT RODS RIGHT TO MY REAR AXLE AND WARP MY REAR END 1 BACK TIRE WOBBELS ITS UNGODLY I DID BUY IT AS IS BUT I PAID 26 THOUSAND FOR IT ITS A 2004 YUKON ITS A BEAUTIFUL TRUCK JUST NOT LIFTED RIGHT BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM UTAH

well lets look at it this way if you were traveling on a highway right behind me and a hose clamp broke and my whole axle came right into your windshield and will see if you live ... now tell me that its perfectly fine for a dealer to sell such a dangerous vehicle...... theres got to be some kind of law that forbids this

I am 18 and will be buying my first car. I love the old school muscle cars of the 60's and 70's. Several conditions:
Good classic looks
affordable
relatively reliable
easy to maintan

Since i am a first time buyer, I am open to all makes and models as long as it is a muscle car or muscle car-esque and it meets the above conditions.

I look forward to all of your suggestions!

oh, and where is a good place to buy it?

I was thinking about a 2004-2005 Nissan Altima. They look alright and there is alot of room. But if you had that much cash what would you buy?

I have two options, I know it is a weird comparison. I truly want a IS350 though but now it's just down to $$$. But if I get a 2006 Toyota Tacoma my mom will buy it for me. I have to make a decision by tommrrow. I figured I'll take the Tacoma and drive it, while saving up the money for the car I truely want. What would you guy do? I will be making 40grand a year at my job. My commute will be 70miles roundtrip to work.

2007 Lexus IS350 is 42K out the door. My mom will give me $5000. Meaning I have to pay $37,000 + $2400 insurance. Payment should be almost $900 a month for 5yr loan which includes insurance.

2006 Toyota Tacoma V6 4 Door Double Cab. She buys it. I just pay her $300 a month including insurance as long as I drive it.

Hi. I'm looking to buy a new Honda Accord coupe EX-V6 (manual) and obviously, the price is making me think extra hard. I live in NYC and visited a local authorized honda dealership.. and they told me it would run me about 26k. MSRP is 27,500. I dont know whether this is a good price or not.. but I know that taxes are gonna kill me and probably run me at least 30k with these people. (P.S.- I am financing probably most or all of it) Now I was considering going to another state and buying it (even if I have to fly there and drive back), but am I going to have problems registering it here in NY? This is my first time buying a new car so I'd appreciate some good advice in how I should approach dealers in other states... meaning I dont want to go to another state just to test drive, not buy and come home. Even if I was to buy it from another state, which state around me is CLOSEST and cheaper??
Another question is, my FICO (credit score) is about 630. What rate should I expect? THANK YOU!!!
