I have two options, I know it is a weird comparison. I truly want a IS350 though but now it's just down to $$$. But if I get a 2006 Toyota Tacoma my mom will buy it for me. I have to make a decision by tommrrow. I figured I'll take the Tacoma and drive it, while saving up the money for the car I truely want. What would you guy do? I will be making 40grand a year at my job. My commute will be 70miles roundtrip to work.

2007 Lexus IS350 is 42K out the door. My mom will give me $5000. Meaning I have to pay $37,000 + $2400 insurance. Payment should be almost $900 a month for 5yr loan which includes insurance.

2006 Toyota Tacoma V6 4 Door Double Cab. She buys it. I just pay her $300 a month including insurance as long as I drive it.

You seem to be a young man.
Do not get yourself in debt with a car now.
The Lexus will get scratched, dented, and rusty in time just like all cars. You just won't be paying for it still when it does!
I could have had a Lexus RX330 but decided with a family on a Toyota Sienna and I have not regretted the Sienna for a minute. Toyota's are great cars. The Lexus IS nest though!

Go for the Tacoma.
When something goes wrong..not that it will..it's a TOYOTA LOL!
But if something does with the vehicle it won't cost as much as the IS350.

On top of that the payments are going to kill you on the IS350
You may be earning 40k/year but what are your living costs going to be and tax'es.

Lets say you go on holiday and while you are at the beach someone takes it apon themselves to steal your wallet and cell containing $400, your cell and bank cards...you still have to get home and replace all you have lost..now if you had the IS350 how great would the month be looking at this point?...lets say on your way home your cam belt breaks and now you need a engine overhaul?

Chances are these are not too realistic but what i'm trying to say is that I would fully support you if the payments on the IS350 were the same as for the Tacoma IF you had more cash to put towards it.
Have a bit of patience and it will pay off.

Well Toyota's have better gas milage than lexus plus not only that your mom is payin for it so it would save you alot of money than the lexus...you can always trade the car later when you get a better job just get the one that will get you there to and fromwork. $300 including the insurance is better than paying $900 plus insurance...so you're saving quite a bit of money there if your mom buys it....go with the toyota.

Check out the Toyota Highlander, Cheaper than the Lexus, still a good quality car. Looks very similar, it might be a good compromise.

Go for the Tacoma and save your cash. My dad has had two tacomas. he was in an accident last year in his 01' tacoma and it really held its value.
Your trade in on a Tacoma will be pretty good. $500 a month is a lot of money on a 40k salary. i am assuming you live w/your parents to be able to afford that on your salary.
If you want to move out within the next 5 years, you may not be able to afford it because of your car.

The IS 350 would kick the Tundra's @$$. The IS 350 has 306-hp and the Tundra has 236-hp, 276-hp, or 381-hp depending on the engine. The Tundra wasn't designed for speed as much as it was for torque, plus it's a lot heavier than the IS 350, which was designed for speed.

Go for the Lexus, that is what you really want, nothing is free in life, it is much more challenging if you stretch your expenses but get what you want, instead of having it for free... No effort or real challenge for you, the other way you will remember your effort everytime you drive you brand new 2007 Lexus... Go for it...
