I just bought a used 1990 sprint 266 bass boat with a 1990 Mercury 115 hp outboard motor (2-stroke).

A couple times when I have turned the key to the accessory position (where the electrical system is engaged but before the engine turns over), I get a high-pitched, sustained tone. Is this a warning tone? There are no warning lights on the instrument panel, so I am a little lost/concerned.

The noise can start when I first turn the key or when I begin to start the engine after drifting on the lake for a while. The engine seems to be running fine and the noise generally stops after a few minutes of driving.

Any ideas?

I have an 1984 70hp evinrude. Motor starts up,idles, revs up good in neutral. When I shift nto forward and excelerate motor runs poorly and eventually dies. I can put it back in neutral and it will start up just fine. This happened with the motor warmed up. Ran well going out on the lake. Did not run the motor hard. Just cruising around with the kids. It seems to also run when shifted into reverse. I did not run it to much in reverse. because, I finally got it close to the dock. I did not want to get stuck to far out. This was our first time out with this motor. Prior to this situation the motor was claimed to be in good working order. And appears to have been maintained. The motor started up fine when cold. Also idles well. Gas is fresh. Oil is not pre-mixed but comes from a resevoir. I have not checked any fluids yet.

the release mechanism on the starboard side is "sheared" off. Rotates half the pin but does not have any effect.. normally this control is lifted which releases the motor so it can be lowered or raised by hand. The motor is a 28 hp johnson outboard with an older omc drive. thanks if you can help

I just bought a used 16' bass boat with a MotorGuide Three 727 trolling motor with 24lb thrust. The motor is 12 volt and was made back in about 1985.

When I put the motor in the water, it will run at full speed for about 5 sec and then shut completely off. I have to wait about a minute or so before it will respond again. The person who sold me the boat hard wired the motor directly to the trolling battery. I mention this only because a coworker has a later model MotorGuide and said that his has a connector plug that connects to a port at the front of the boat.

The trolling battery has a full charge ( I checked it and connected it to a charger to make sure that it was full). I suspect that somehow the motor is pulling too many amps or something and that the motor is shutting off as a safety measure to prevent damage.

Any ideas would be appreciated (other than "buy a new trolling motor").

I have a 1886 Sea Ray 21' bowrider; low hours, excellent fiberglass condition. The previous owner did a floor job that was done incorrectly and now the entire floor has to be replaced including stringers. I have built houses and can do plumbing/handy man type work. Is repairing a boat floor something I should be able to do?

I have a 5 HP Tohatsu on my 9 1/2 foot Nordik(basically a zodiac) When I open up the throttle, the bow raises way up and the boat plows alot of water. I have to sit up in the bow where I can't reach the tiller handle in order to get the boat on a plane, but when it gets up I have to move to the back again or else the back end raises too high and I lose speed. Now I would rather not be moving around on a tiny boat when it is zooming at fast speeds. Can I fashion trim tabs of some sort to help the boat get on a plane? Could it be as simple as adjusting the angle of the motor?

We love to wakeboard, waterski, but also love exploring. So what's your favorite Lake to do all of the above? Mine is probably Lake Powell in Arizona/Utah. But the water has been so low, I'm looking for new spots.

I have a few Dings and Chips in the fiberglass hull of my boat and am looking for a "bondo like" product to fill the holes. They don't leak but I feel as though if I don't repair them they may get worse.
Thanks
