How do you get lake water yellow scum off the back of a fiberglass boat?

Use FSR stain remover and cleaner. It is an oxalic acid cleaner in a gel form. You can use a soft scrubber pad to apply it if the stains are really bad. The gel form keeps in from running down your arm or where you don't want it. When you are done, wax the cleaned surface and the cleaning will be easier next time. It is available at most boating supply stores.

Softscrub is good, I've used it before on my boat. Simple Green is another good product to try. Either of those will probably take the protective finish off so apply a good quality automotive type wax to the Gel coat when you're done (NuFinish works great - it's easy to apply and comes off with little effort too, even in the sun). The next time you leave it in the water, the scum should come off easier.

Exactly what venusazboy said. Use On-Off hull cleaner. Its a mild acid that doesnt damage fiberglass. It litterally works like magic. I just used it on my boat this year which had horrible stains from sitting in the water. You just wipe on, no scrubbing required and then rinse off!

Forget what everyone else said, I'm telling you this stuff works excellent!

You might not believe this but if the regular boat cleaners don't work try easy-off oven cleaner.
Just make sure you wash it all off the boat when you are finished. Once the hull is clean, compound it and give it a good coat of wax and finish it off with 3M Finesse polish. A smooth slippery surface is harder for the scum to stick to.

The best thing to use, honestly, is On-And-Off Hull Cleaner. This will not scratch the fiberglass. Trust me on this, I have been a boater my whole life, and I clean my boats very often. This is the best stuff by far.

I use The Works toilet bowl cleaner. It works really good. Don't let it sit too long and rinse really good.
