I have an older BassPro boat that came with a custom made heavy canvas cover. I beIieve it is made of cotton, but is the typical canvas material and not plastic. I would like to apply a water repellant to it. Also, when patching small holes and re-stitching seams that come loose, what kind of thread is available that is water, rot and UV resistant?

I would appreciate hearing from those who have indeed actually tried the products they wish to discuss.

... and once you're back on solid ground it still feels like you're out on the water? I was on a boat for several hours the other day and once I got back on land, my equilibrium was a bit off. For several hours it felt like I was still out on the boat. Is there a proper term to describe this?

I have a 12ft aluminum boat and want a motor for fishing. I was looking at a small outboard but they are expensive. The lake I fish at doesn't allow 2 stroke which is what came with my boat (3hp). I sold it for $200 and was thinking of buy just a trolling motor. Has anyone just put a transom mount trolling motors on theirs? I was looking at a 55lbs trust ones which I think would putt me around pretty good. How well would this do for my boat? I know it not going to be as fast as an outboard but I really don't have the money to buy an outboard and a trolling motor right now, so that is why I was thinking of just getting the trolling motor. I have a new battery for one already. Any suggestions or tips would help out greatly. Thanks for looking and input. Roger

I have a two battery 24 volt trolling system. Is it safe to hook jumpercables to one or the other of the two batteries even though they are connected for the purpose of jump starting a dead starting battery?

I think it starts with like a W, and it might actually be the name of the motor on the boat instead of the actual boat. Its kind of a long name i think.

I have a 2000 V6 mustang and a 2006 Yamaha VX110 jet ski. I may be getting full use and storage of it from my dad. I was wondering how well my car would pull the jet ski? "Well" as far as going down the road, up a hill, pulling the jet ski out of the water with a little water-weight added to it from a day's ride, pulling the jet ski out of the water if the boat ramp is a little steep, etc. etc.

Also is there anything I should know or be leary of when pulling a jet ski with a car??

all a little different, but most the same size are similar. This crazy boat seems to glide sideways TOOOOOO much. It doesn't seem to steer correctly. Motor turns easily and freely, it just doesn't seem to respond like normal boats do.

I was thinking about buying a small yacht in the next year and sailing across the pacific with a friend. By default i was just planning to buy it in california and sail west. While tossing the idea around my friend suggested that instead we fly to somewhere in asia and buy a boat there and sail it back. His thinking being that if they are made over there half the price must be transporting it to america!

If we bought it in america and sail it over there, then decided we dont know what to do with it and want to sell it we may not be able to get back even 1/3rd of our investment (supply and demand).

But if we go there first and sail back we might even be able to sell it for more than we paid!

Any ideas, tips or thigns we should look out for?

There's this boat that I know exists, but I have no clue what it's called. It's kind of a flat board on top, but it's got two buoyant chambers underneath, one on each side holding it up, that look like canoes. I'm not sure if there's a sail or not, but does anyone know what kind of boat I'm rambling about?

There are many floating houses now on the market, not just barges, but full size three bed houses, the services are supplied by telescopic hoses and cables with a couple of good anchors, at least people would not have to keep starting over when washed out and they cost less than a re-build, also if you wanted to move just take the house with you, just hire a tug, as for transport those six wheel road worthy floating run abouts are ideal, good way to relieve road congestion in some places. but the govn. would have to build a few more slipways

I have a '71 Arrow Glass Riviera inboard/outboard. The lower unit will not tilt up. When I try to raise it up, I just hear a weird noise, like its trying to, but its obviously malfunctioning. I dont know what this part is called, is there a kit to fix this, and what is it called? Or is it more complicated than this?

My family boats a lot up in Newport and I always see 100-200 foot yachts up there with deckhands who look relatively young. Do any of you have any experience as a deckhand on such a yacht? What do they look for in a potential crew member? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
