He is obviously a danger, not only to himself, but to any passengers he has on board.
He needs a good lecture from the coastguard and lifeboat authorities.
How could anyone be so stupid.
We live near the coast and a couple of weeks ago noticed a small yacht about 20 yards outside the harbour wall being attended to by the RNLI. They had not been rescued from the open sea, the problem had occurred that close to shore.
Our brave lifeboatmen and women don`t need idiots to call upon there services.

He is being negligent. He is not thinking about his or his passengers safety, and he is one of those people who cost the rnli time and money for no good reason. Thing is that there is absolutely nothing that we can do about it because there is no legal obligations or laws for boating, unless he is charging people to go out with him. If he is then there could be something you could do about it. You could report him to the rnli, and the harbour department, and then if he has a skipper's licence or anything that gives him permission to charge the public to go out on his boat, they could have it taken away. Problem is, he probably doesn't have any thing like that, and is just an idiot taking out his mates. They too are stupid for not making him take a vhf, and for going out with him in bad weather.

It's the skippers decision to go out or not.One boat and persons gale, can be another boat and persons good wind. The skipper is responcible for the safety of the vessel, and everyone aboard. To say HE WOULD NOT GET IN A DISTRESS SITUATION is sheer foolishness.Did have lifejackets for all? That sort of attitude sank the titanic.Think i would not sail with this dude

An accident can happen any time. To have others on his boat without a radio is insane, even in good boating conditions. He is one of those people that something terrible has to happen to him before he understands the consequences of taking chances and not being prepared. My opinion of this person is that he is not very smart and way to daring to have others on his boat.

Foolish.

People have no respect for the Sea these days and rely on modern electronics or the various rescue services (RNLI Coast Guard) to get them out of danger.

All the old skills of seamanship are long gone!

Probably you have never been at sea yourself; otherwise you would not ask this particular question. If you are invited by this "yachtsman", better stay in the dockside bar.

nobody believes they will get into a distress situation.

Including all those that have drowned over the years.

Its selfish not to take the correct precautions, even on an inland waterways craft.

taking others out in bad conditions is culpable negligence......no matter how good you are and how many miles under the keel and how staunch the boat is........I've got 25,000 miles sailing yachts around here and there and ALWAYS respect the sea, because she will respect respect and smack down arrogance 100% of the time.

Now, if he were sailing by himself, I'd say its evolution in action......
