I drive a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and my engine has been knocking for the past few months. I've tried filling it up with the highest octane gas, but the knocking has recently returned. The knocking is not a ticking sound, but a higher pitched, pinging sound. The car has 199K miles on it, and is in fairly good condition.
Due to its age and its mileage, my Jeep is only worth about 2,000 dollars. Therefore, it isn't worth sending it to a dealer, having it repaired, and having to pay an expensive bill. I've tried changing the oil as well, but the engine still sporadically knocks, especially when the car is accelerating. Should I continue to drive the car regardless of the engine knocking, or is it time to buy a new car?

It looks boss, I think it's a chevy but not sure what year/model or what's under the hood? I think Toad says in the movie the cubic inch size and that it was a six cylinder? Also, is the Pharoahs 'chop top' a '32 Mercury? What a cool car that is too. Also the year Ford police car that had the rear end ripped out? Was that a Galaxy? Great movie. Pretty accurate too since I didn't see any mustangs in the movie. The movie was shot for circa '62 and the mustang came out in '64? I saw a '56 effie pickup (I'm restoring a '55 f100) a '60 white falcon station wagon (I have a '63) and a cool Edsel in the movie. Awesome cars, I wish I grew up in my Dad's time.

I have a 2004 Hyundai Accent that is doing really weird things. A couple months ago, the check engine light started to flash every time I fill up with gas. The car shudders at idle, almost like it's going to stall, but when driving is fine. The engine light flashes while the car is moving, is off when the car is shuddering in idle, and comes on solid when the car is idle and not shuddering.
I've taken it to the dealership and to AutoZone for diagnostic work, but I can't seem to be told what the problem is and I don't want to do $700 dollars of work that the dealership "thinks" might fix the problem.
I commute an hour to work and an hour home, and this is making me pretty nervous. I'm a stickler for maintenance on my car, so there's nothing that I've missed as far as service. The car is ready for it's 45,000 service soon, and it will go in, but I want to get this problem fixed first, so the dealership doens't try to work one over on me.

Just looking for an "in the ballpark" answer here on the high and low end. I have a 97 Taurus with 160k on it and it is leaking antifreeze. What is a reasonable estimate on my cost. I realize it could be a hose, or it could be the radiator...but have no clue on the cost to repair that. Thanks!!!

i was driving home tonight and my car lights started getting dimmer and dimmer and i started losing power
the only way my car was on was because of the alternator running when i would put in the clutch and the rpm would drop it would almost die

its obviously a short draining my battery.
i looked and my belt on the alternator was still good and if it was the alternator i probably wouldnt have been able to get home.
so my question is.

how can i find out where the short is
i really need help

I have a 1982 FLH 4 speed with a tranny leak from the main. I have replaced the main seal and installed a sprocket nut seal (super nut) and it still leaks. Any advice? Thanks

Okay we have a 2001 Windstar. The passenger window doesn't wanna go down. The lights do flicker when we press the button. I am not sure if it is the regulator or motor itself. It randomly will work when it feels like it..Any ideas..is it hard to change. Places charge alot of labor..thanks

I was just browsing the autotrader site and noticed that little '90-'93 Honda Civic hatchbacks with close to 200,000 miles still sell for anywhere between $3,000 and $6,000. How and why is this? Are they THAT reliable? I mean, you can buy a used 2006 Chevy Cobalt with under 30,000 miles for well under $9,000. I've heard of Hondas lasting "forever", but are they really worth that kind of money for a 10-15 year old car with close to 200,000 miles?

How come there aren't any special lanes for firetrucks, ambulances, police cars, or any other type of special emergency?
Wouldn't it be a lot easier for them to get by rather than wait for cars to get out of the way?

I can see the oil leakage only when the engine is started. It also give out a burning smell. could you please tell me what is the probable cause of this. And what can be done to fix the whole problem, so that i can avoid any further problems in coming years.Thanks in advance.

Ok, well, I have the choice between a silver 1999 Chrysler LHS or a silver 2000 Dodge Intrepid. Some things you might want to know:

-They are within 100 miles of each other.
-Both have V6's.
-Neither have any rust.
-Both have remote start.
-The LHS has leather interior.

So which one would you choose if you had too? Please don't base your desicion on which car manufacturer you like best. I know it'll be hard without seeing pictures, but I am so clueless! My parents want me to do research and make a decision for myself. I know NOTHING about cars! So, if you know anything important about either of these cars (like MPG) and you'd like to throw that in with your answer, I'd be very greatful! Thanks and happy holidays!

I have a 99 gmc burban that i keep in pretty good shape. I just made a road trip and the oil pressure gauge is starting to play tricks and the check guage light is comming on can this be fixed by having the oil changed? I change it every 4 months w/ 5w 30 synthetic some one please help i love this truck
