Okay we have a 2001 Windstar. The passenger window doesn't wanna go down. The lights do flicker when we press the button. I am not sure if it is the regulator or motor itself. It randomly will work when it feels like it..Any ideas..is it hard to change. Places charge alot of labor..thanks

you may want to check the switch before you replace the motor. There may just be a short in the switch and for a few bucks you can have the problem fixed. Once you have the door panel popped off you will be able to reach the motor fairly easy. I just had this problem with my 2004 Montana, it would go down when it wanted then it would only go down a few inches then stop, then nothing. I went out and got a new motor just to find out it was the switch.... If i were you and it is the motor I would see if I could find a motor at a junk yard before buying it off the shelf.

Sometimes the problem is in the switch itself since to reverse a dc motor you must change polarity. It will not see ground directly. But it must see ground through the switch so find the ground point and see if it's tight or rusty. this would also account for intermittent working correctly.
Ford has a lot of window problems, even more when they went to a cable system. If you need a motor later on consider the hesco brand rebuilt over new.
In the mean-time a well covered board slapped against the lower part of the door with the switch held on will frequently get it moving.

This sounds like the electric motor is boogered up since there's a noticeable electrical response when you hit the switch.

Make sure you leave the window up and do not try to force it down since it is cold outside. It can happen where water will freeze in the window track or gasket/rubber seal and hold the window up. If you can park it someplace warm for a day and then see if the window works OK before you pay someone to fix something that might not need fixing.

Good Luck!
