By register I mean the DVLA-issued V5 document.
Obviously you would need tax, MOT, and insurance, but do you need a V5 to get any of these three?

Thanks

I was turned down by Capital One Auto Finance and can't seem to figure out why. We've had 2 auto loans thru them and paid on time everytime. We have one that is current, the other was traded in. We also have a credit card that we pay on time. Our credit scores are around 620, which I know is not the best, but it is better than last October when they were around 580 and they financed us then?!? The only thing I can think of is that we had an issue at my bank where the bank placed a stop payment on my car note by mistake, which meant my payment was like 15 days past due. Totally not my fault as I paid the darn thing 4 times during this month and only one went thru the bank after repeated calls to both capital one and the bank. I think this may have something to do with it because when I applied my payment was showing past due, even though I paid it. Anyone think of a reason for the denial. Or know how I should handle? I've called and all they'll say is they've sent a letter.

K so I bought a 2002 white jetta about 4 months ago. I have been driving a auto for my whole driving experience like 4 years. and I am terrifyed to drive it. I can shift gears when Im driving but when it comes to slowing down and putting it into neutral but when I dont end up coming to a full stop I get confused on what gear to put it in. I cant down shift and the worst part is i am having such a hard time starting off from first. I get so scared when a car is behind me and I try not to shift to fast so I dont stall but then I end up going to slow where I start rolling backward and also if im going too slow starting they end up honking at me and end up stalling. No matter how much I practice Im not confortable driving and iv almost gotten into so many accidents cuz Im so confused when driving. So i havent driven it in 2 months. I need help if theres an easyier way to learn. DO they have classes on how to drive a manual? I live in sacramento ca. Thanks so much!!!

When I bought this sports coupe of mine, it had racing tires already on them. I never changed the tires. However, the grip is kind of bad when it rains, so I just drive extremely slow and cautious. During the dry times, that car is so fast. Anyway, If I get all weather tires for safety purposes will it decline my cars speed performance on the road or will it not have an effect on it?

I just purchased mine and of course, no fuel gauge! The girl I bought it from said she always filled up at 80 miles. I know it can go further. But before I try, I'd like some really good opinions or exact facts. Thanks for your help!

I replaced the coolant lines on a th400 trans. First I used pipe thread tape on end that go into trans housing. No leaks. Great! But when I start engine the trans fluid leaks out from the pipe that goes thru the connectors that screw into trans housing.

What did I forget to do?

i drive a 2000 chrystler (300m) and the whole panel went out. it wont show my mileage, my speed, how much gas there is in my car etc.... i would like to try to fix it myself, instead of going out and spending my whole pay check (lol) so if any one can maybe shoot me some ideas of what the problem might be, that would be awesome!

I hear so much about stuff failing things breaking with American cars, it's maddening. Why has the quality of these cars plummeted in favor of the Foreign automakers? Personally, I think American cars are nice looking, take the Chrysler 300C or Sebring and the Dodge Charger and Avenger. Heck, the Saturn Outlook looks better than a Rav4 or a Pilot. Cars like Accord, Civic, Maxima, and especially the Prius are just straight fugly. How are they selling.

hi all
i have paided for my no claims to be protected '6 years' protected no claims.
my insurance renewal is now due in 2 weeks
today someone hit my car , so anyway the question is now that i have claimed on my insurance and its protected'this is the first time claiming'
when i am asked' by another insurance company if i renew somewhere else' if i have made any claims in the last 3 years or what ever, do i tell them, or does the proctected no claims mean i dont have to as it was protected so hence insurance does not go up ' you are allowed 2 claims in 3 years 'england'.
'does protected mean any claims made do not have to be counted as claims' ??

We hear this and that about transmissions failing on Chryslers, faulty cruise controls on Fords, and goodness knows what about GM vehicles, while the Japanese/Korean/Other Asian Country manufacturers are making the money. I'm trying to buy my first car (used), but I really can't make a decision. Half of me wants to go and buy a Chrylser 300C or a Dodge Charger, some other part of me wants me to buy an Acura TL or an Infiniti G35. I also want to think about buying a European car like a Mercedes, BMW, or an Audi. I've even considered Volvo as my first, but even they can't keep up in some cases ( http://wcco.com/national/topstories_story_228082334.html ) It's confusing and maddening. I want to get a car with good fuel economy, and one with quality and safety. Yet everyone wants for people to buy American cars. Most of the workers are in China, perhaps that's why American car companies are suffering, as well from HORRIBLE management, in part of GM and Ford.

I recently bought a used 2007 from a dealership. When I went to the DMV to get it registered, they said that I was missing vital lein-release paperwork and that the title had not been signed correctly by the original owner. Without these corrections, both of which need a real signature (as opposed to fax or copy), they will not allow me to register the car. The problem is, I happen to know the guy now lives on the East Coast!

What recourse do I have against the dealership? As it stands, I am driving a car with an expired temp tag and no way to make it legal! So much for "experts in their field".
