I have a 2000 VW Jetta, why is the ABS light on?

Most likely one of the ABS sensors has gotten dirty or malfunctioned and is no longer registering the signal properly.

However it's best to get a computer diagnositic to determine the exact cause.

Could be a tail or brake light burned out.Replace it.
