I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ440, its my first bike...got it for cheap and running. I just had to clean the carbs cuz the bike was sitting for a long time and they were badly varnished. This didn't keep the bike from running...it just ran akwardly cuz of it (random loss of power while adding throttle) Now...the carbs are clean and have some left over carb cleaner, and my buddy told me I should put it in the gas tank to clean it out. I don't know if my buddy has any idea what he is talking about. I know a gas tank can get gunked up but I don't think this is the way to clean it. Anyhoo...my thought is...carb cleaner is not called 'gas tank cleaner' and the directions say nothing about using it as such. I took off the petcock and cleaned that with water and an air hose, I emptied the fuel tank and there is nothing solid bouncing around inside it...should I even bother with carb cleaner or just put the bike back together and finally learn to ride?

I'm looking to buy a scooter until I can get a good job to pay for a car and insurance (a couple years), and I'd like to know if there's a scooter that is best-designed for a climate like Chicago, especially in the winter. I don't plan on using the scooter other than for school or work, which are both a 5 minute drive from my home, so driving in cold weather isn't too much of a problem for me (I can dress warm). My problem would be driving the scooter while it's raining or snowing, or while there's slush or water on the asphalt, and therefore my question is: is there a scooter you would consider more "off-road" than others in that it is more capable of slippery environments? Or perhaps possible upgrades for scooters to make them more stable (ex. do they make tires with better traction or weather tires for scooters)? And what companies make three-wheeled scooters (which I would guess to have better traction)? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

What is it that you personally find to be your best strength as a rider? what makes you confident ineven getting on these roads these days with soo many idiot cagers? We ALL have lost friends over the years, yet i find myself still buying a new bike every couple years.I personally do not have a clear answer as to how I still have the sack to throw a leg over, and yet while on it,all those thoughts of death and carnage Ive witnessed over the years seem to fade a bit,if only the duration of my ride.
Id say for me its confidence in my own riding skills from many years of riding,i was riding before i ever owned a bmx bike....ida know...freaks me out at times to think of it all.

Leasing it for 2 yrs with $4000 down payment + fees & taxes (an additional $1800) is around $250 a month, 10k a year. 15 cents for every additional mile.
Buying it is for $40000 which leads to a much higher monthly payments.
What do u think? Please explain. Thanks

I recently acquired a 34' 1963 Constellation in very rough condition. Although I restore wooden boats for a living, I am concerned if this one is worth my time. All the parts are there, the hull and structure are sound, but it will require extensive work. If it is rare it is worth it - if not the chainsaws will eat it and the mahogany will feed my fireplace this winter. - HELP

I have a 2001 V6 mustang with everything stock except the air filter ( k&n). My car when i "max" it out will only get to around 100-105 and then you feel the car pulling and then letting go. Is there a governor on my car making it do this or is this the "max" speed that my car can go. I also noticed this same thing w/ my parents F-250 and Taurus.

I own a 95 accord and the engine temperature gage is broken so I am scared of overheating. I recently filled the reserve readiator tank with coolant however when I checked the coolant reserve tank the next day it was back to being low. I'm a delivery driver and while my car was parked I saw liquid coming out from under the car. What is my problem here?

Ford is in severe financial difficulty and may go bankrupt within 5 years. What will happen to all the Ford warranties and the resale value of Ford vehicles? Yet another rreason NOT to buy from Ford (their cars arre all POS but I honestly cannot speak for Ford trucks).

GM has gotten a real pos. from korea, the aveo, and has put a Chevy nameplate on it. GM again is trying to screw the public. The Aveo is a real POS. "Unsafe at Any Speed" will be reprinted with a new chapter featuring the Aveo. No wonder GM's sales are in the toilet. Certified morons manage the company. Your comments please.

My car went dead today because I left the lights on accidentally. I had to get it jumped.

It SEEMS to be fine now, but the "door open" beeper WON'T go off. It "beep beep beeps" when I'm driving, when the car is off, etc.

It's NOT the car doors because the "door open" logo doesn't light up. I re-closed them all anyway, along with the trunk, the hood, etc. No dice.

What can I do?

Thanks!

or someone who REALLY knows cars. When you have to change a flat and put the smaller temporary spare tire on the car, which is almost always smaller and not as wide as the stock tires, does this affect the operation of the anti lock brakes and the EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution)? The ABS light did not illuminate but I'm still curious.

I went to visit my parents and I borrowed my father's Honda minivan. As I was adjusting the seat and mirrors, I noticed the moon roof was open, which it turns out my Dad had left it open from earlier in the day when he got back from golfing. And there had been a quick downpour between then and when I got in. Now the signal lights do not work, and neither do the power door locks. I opened the passenger and driver's side fuse boxes, and the corresponding fuses seem to be intact, but I noticed when i opened the box on the driver's side there were a few water droplets.... could it be water damage, and if so, is it easily repaired or is the dealership going to ding my father with a huge labor bill?

I have an 84 Honda Shadow VT700C. It runs fine when I first start out, but from my observation, after the temprature gets in the red it starts to sputter to the point where it finally stalls. This has happened twice to me so far this year. What do you think this problem may be and how much do you think it would cost to fix it? I would appriciate any answers you may give.
