The check engine light can come on for minor reasons, go to autozone and have them check it for you, my engine light came on because a plug misfired. they do it for free.

Something is not right. Have the error code read and find out what the light is telling you. It could be something simple like the gas cap is not on tight, to a serious problem. No way of guessing here. Auto zone does it for free, as do other auto parts places. good luck.

Once the CEL (Check Engine Light) has been triggered, the car's computer must be reset to 'clear' the code that was sent.
The dealer can do it (but will probably charge for it). Auto X Ray and other companies make code readers that will allow you to reset the computer yourself.

then it might be a simple prob . when the light comes on go to the partsstore leave the car running and have them check it . it might pop up then . i know on some fords the codes clear out when you shut it off , so if your check engine light is lit it take it and have it checked with your engine running

if they checked it and didn't re-set it that may be why its staying on,usually the check light will only come on if the computer detects a fault in the system, and this remains set until it is erased and the problem is repaired,it could be that they just forgot to re-set it,or you could have a minor problem with it either way advance or auto zone can clear it off for you,and its free,a good deal and saves you a 40-50 dollar fee on it,good luck hope this helps.
