I own a 95 accord and the engine temperature gage is broken so I am scared of overheating. I recently filled the reserve readiator tank with coolant however when I checked the coolant reserve tank the next day it was back to being low. I'm a delivery driver and while my car was parked I saw liquid coming out from under the car. What is my problem here?

Could be one of the radiator hoses. The coolant will be green or orange depending on what kind your car requires. Is the car making a whining squealing noise all the time? If this is the case the water pump could be going out. It could also be that the radiator is leaking. Do not put in any of that stop leak remedy because this could cause you more problems. If your engine is overheating it will run different in that it will idle rough. When it is dark and you have your headlights on you can sometimes see steam. Open your hood and try to see if there is coolant sprayed anywhere in the engine compartment and go from there. Good luck.

Ok, the "liquid" coming from under the car could very well be your airt conditioning drain. Go to the car after its been sitting and is cold to th touch (the upper and lower radiator hoses). Next, remove the radiator cap. Follow the upper hoseunilt you see a "bleeder screw". It looks like the 1 on your brake caliper. Oh, it's a 12mm. Socket and rachet, loosen the "bleeder". Pour coolant until you see coolant coming out of the bleeder. Close the bleeder and fill the radiato until it's full. Now theres more, your not done. Inside the car turn your heater all the way to HOT. The blower doesnt have to be on, just the hot/cold temp switch/dial on the a/c panel. Start the car and using a pocket screwdriver, idle the car to 2000 rpm's or so. Keep filling the coolant in the radiator, the thermostat should open. A way to check if the t-stat opens is to check the upper and lower radiator hoses. They should feel the same in temp (maybe hot, be careful) Run the car , fill the coolant, at 200rpm until the fan(s) come on, remove the screwdriver after the fans shut off, (If the fan doesnt come on you got another problem),top off the systen, and replace your rad. cap. Oh yeah Get your guage fixed, its probably the enginge coolant temp sensor.

The level in the resoiver will rise and fall depending on how hot the engine is. That is why there is a low and full mark on the tank. In the morning, fill the tank to the full cold mark. Then if during the day you see fluids dripping on the ground then you know you have a leak. Pop the hood and see where it is coming from. With a broken temp gauge, you will need to get the leak fixed or run the chance of melting the engine. Why not get the gauge fixed while you are there.

Good luck.

With the engine cold, remove the radiator cap. If the coolant level is not completely to the top, fill it. Then fill the reservoir. Wait 5 minutes and check radiator again. If low, fill it. Recheck in 5 minutes. continue til radiator will hold no more. Use car as normal and check coolant level the next morning. If low, you have a leak. Take it to a shop and have a cooling system pressure test performed to find the leak.

The collant level in the reserve tank fluctuates depending on the pressure, and need of the cooling system. If the water you see leaking from your car feels "greasy" between your fingers, or is the color of the collant you added to the radiator, then it's a coolant leak of some sort. If you've been running the air conditioner though, it's normal to see condensation water leaking down beneath the car. I hope this helped.

if you notice a green colored liquid under the car, one thing about the reserve radiator tank, anti freeze evaporates from those things, but keep your eye on it, look around the engine for any green stains, see if you can get your system pressured tested, the radiator too.

the reserve tank "breathes" fill it up again and drive for a while. check radiator first when cold. liquid might be just condensation from the airconditioner which is very common if you use the a/c
