I have a 2001 V6 mustang with everything stock except the air filter ( k&n). My car when i "max" it out will only get to around 100-105 and then you feel the car pulling and then letting go. Is there a governor on my car making it do this or is this the "max" speed that my car can go. I also noticed this same thing w/ my parents F-250 and Taurus.

the computer has a speed limiter built into it, this protects the manufactor from suits for things like putting on tires that don't match the cars top speed, without it your car would go faster than the tires were designed for.

If you want to go faster, you must upgrade the computer, chassis, and tires

The car speeds are electronically governed with the computer. You will need an aftermarket programmer to change the speed limit setting.

Trade it in for a Shelby, and then don't worry about it. good luck.

Yes it is governored, that way it keeps you from doing severe damage to the engine.
