the entire world uses a drogue with a hose to refuel their aircraft in midair... how come the USAF uses a flying boom? shouldn't the drogue and hose require less coordination and therefore safer and easier? what advantages does the flying boom have over the hose-drogue system?

I got into an accident about a month and a half ago and my bumper has about a 5-6" crack. It's off to the side and not that noticeable, so it doesn't bother me too much. But I'm thinking about selling my car soon and am thinking I should probably get this taken care of before I do. Anyone have an idea of what it costs to replace a bumper?

If not, is there any place that could possibly tow it for me for under 2,000?

I have a truck fully capable of pulling 10,000lbs. So truck is not an issues, only the trailer and length of the boat seems to be stumping me.

I managed to get speed trapped in my company truck the other day. (First speeding ticket I've ever got.) So the cop writes me a ticket, but she marks the truck not being a commercial vehicle. The tags on the truck plainly state that it's a commercial truck. Is there a difference between a commercial vehicle and a "commercial truck"? Really my question is, was this done to screw me out of more money, help me, or does it even have any bearing on anything?

We want to get a second vehicle for taking short fishing/camping trips.
*Want to spend about $5000
*SUV-type vehicle
*Can pull a 17-18' foot Bass Tracker boat

How old of a vehicle do you think we are looking at, and how many miles do you think we should expect to be on it? We're pretty open to all makes of SUV-type vehicles but are not interested in a pickup. I'd appreciate any input or ideas - thanks!

I am not having much trouble actually manipulating and motivating the aircraft at school. I fly well. However, I am having some trouble with ground school....the more book and technical part of learning.

I suspect it has to do with the classic, "Very Old Dog; New Trick", situation.

My instructor has suggestions, my fellows at work have ideas, and the old timers on the tarmac are very positive.

What are your suggestions?

Trains have been doing this for years. I see VW TDI Jetta's getting 40+ miles to the gallon. Hybrids get 40-60. Why have no companies combined the two technologies into one?

Hello, people. I just went through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's (MSF, www.riderite.net) safety course, and...very few people know about it, especially those that are not living with me. I have not discussed anything with the people that I live with because they are really against motorcycle riding. For my first bike, I would like to purchase a Suzuki SV650, which is a hugely popular standard bike, and was recommended as a first bike(http://www.suzukicycles.com/Products/SV650K7/Default.aspx). Anyway, I just wanted to know how to break the ice. I've told one person in the household already, and I don't think he's going to let anyone else know. It's not so much that I'm not responsible, but the people around me don't want me on one. I do want one though, already got an M1/M2 license coming in. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. Take care, and, as the Harley moto goes, "Live to ride. Ride to live."
