I bought this car 3 w ago. It was a used one. It is an 05 Chevy Cobalt. All of a sudden it didnt start today but after putting it into N it started. It is working perfect now. Should I worry? Does it mean there is a prob about my gears?

I own a 1996 Pontiac Firebird, with the "measly" 3.8 V6 engine. I have to come up with $1200 to fix my car. This sucks butt!!!!!!!!

I have to have the following things done:

1. Two new O2 sensors (one on each bank)
2. New extensive tune-up (plugs, wires, etc.)
3. New serpentine belt
4. Transmission flush and new fluid
5. Oil & filter change
6. Computer reset
7. New EGR valve
And maybe one or two more things. I was told by my mechanic that the parts alone will cost apx. $800. The labor will be about $400. Does this sound reasonable?

Thanks, dudes.

Yesterday a few times, when I applied the brakes, after a second I would hear this "clunk" noise and it felt like something under my feet was falling out. My car still stopped normally. It didn't happen every time I applied the brakes and it didn't happen any on my way to work this morning. Any idea what might be wrong and how much this is going to cost me?

I have an '80s Buick that comes with a digital fuel meter. Problem is, the number displayed on the DFM fluctuates by a great deal; when parked it reads 15, after 1 minute it reads 12, when in reverse it reads 22, when in D it reads 20, and so on. Even once it said E as empty and once I got to the gas station it read 12...

Please help as to how to fix this.

So, I am a kid nearly a year out of high school, and working a dead-end, minimum wage job. I've been looking at various jobs that could support me financially so that I can move out of my parents' house. There's no way I could make it through college. I'm sorry, I just cannot go back to school. One thing that has really caught my eye is truck driving. It seems like nearly the perfect job for me. There two catches.

First off, I have very little background in auto mechanics. I am wanting to get more involved and learn a few things on the subject, but until then, just how much knowledge must I have to properly maintain a career in truck driving?

The second catch is that I know nothing of how to go about aquiring a license and job in the area. I know there are schools for truck driving licenses, but I really know nothing more. Could anyone give me some pointers, or even the basics of what I need to know to pursue a career in truck driving?

Thanks. I really appreciate it.

I have a 1993 Nissan Maxima with 107K miles. Its a good car, but it wont run due to a transmission problem.

AAMCO is quoting $2700 to rebuild the transmission with a 1 Year, 12K miles warranty.

Is it worth to go for the rebuild? Is AAMCO a ripoff?

I am concerned that AAMCO is not trying to charge $2700 for a $700 worth of work.

Please advice.

I don't have a lot to spend on this truck, but I dont want another junk motor. We already invested around 4,000 in the motor we have now, just to keep it running. the cost of the tranny rebuild was more than exspected so Im not able to invest quite as much in the motor. If anyone knows of a place where I can find a good rebulid please let me know
