I have used turbotax.com in the past but I was wondering if there were any sites that were a little cheaper and just as easy to use to file my taxes online. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Currently, I have been acessed with over $30k in arrears regarding my child support payments. In turn, I have requested an audit to refute this figure; and I need a copy of my income history to satisfy the Courts.

I didn't file because I knew I made significantly less than the required minimum (like $1000 at the most) but I now realize that I did pay a lot of federal income tax. Is it too late to get that back if I didn't file?

I already did my taxes and two days after I did them I got 2 W-2's in the mail that I forgot I was going to get. I called the guy that did my taxes and he said to wait until I got my refund and then go back. Is there a way I can do it directly with the IRS? He is always booked and I don't want more time to pass. Thanks in advance.

The situation, 2003 taxes prepared by H&R Block. An error was made on the local taxes and I took taxes back to them and they said they took care of it. Six months later I received another notice from local tax authority that they never recieved payment and were charging me fees, including sending the account to collections. But I never received a notice they were sending it to collections. Do I have any power to fight paying the collections charges since I received no notice? Further, H&R block will not pay anything! I have talked to managers, etc. Beware of them, their guarantee is faulty! This occured in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

My girlfriend wants me to claim her kids on her taxes.. I haven't done it yet, but she has sole custody and says she will go in and verify that she's giving me permission. I have lived with her for over a year and have provided for them kids for more than 7 months of that. Can I legally claim the children if they are not biologically mine if she gives me permission? Also if you do not know do you know what site would give me that information?

I live in Houston, Texas and I am thinking about refinancing my house. If I do it now I have to pay a prepayment penalty that is equal to 6 months worth of interest payments. Would the penalty be tax deductible?

I also understand that there are some laws that prevent mortgage companies from charging these penalties. Is there anyone out there that can point me in the right direction so that I can find out if my mortgage prepayment penalty is illegal? Preferrably someone who knows about Texas laws?

If a relative is in a lower income tax bracket than me, are there tax or legal issues of taking cash and putting it in their bank account? Ofcourse, the goal here is to get interest income taxed at a lower tax bracket than what I would be taxed at if I put it on my own savings account.

Thanks.

On February 2nd, I received a notice that I was going to be audited for 2005. I used HR Block Tax Cut. I wanted to use my worry free audit support. After talking to multiple people who couldn't help me, calling numbers that didn't work, and getting the run around...I still haven't talked to a single person about my audit. They take the same info when I call, give me the same mystery numbers, for the same people who don't exist. I can't tell you how frustrated I am. My audit is next week. What do you recommend I do, other than try to inform as many people as possible that this "feature" doesn't work. I have been lied to and am ticked off! Help
