Or do I just need to go to local court houses to figure out what properties are on sale. I've found sites, None of them were official .gov sites or anything, and my phishing and fraud detector went off on a lot of these sites.

Hi All,

I work in NJ for a small company. My employer provides me with Health insurance and I pay 20% of the cost each month. Recently I noticed that my employer is deducting this amount from my after tax salary. I talked to a couple of my friends and their health premiums get deducted before taxes are applied, so they do not have to pay taxes for that much amount.

I want to go talk to my employer and let him know about this. Should my employer also be deduction my premiums before my salary is taxed? Is there any rules which states this? Any references to link/websites will be greatly appreciated!

My mother-in-law provides daycare for my child. I pay her and claim the money back from my FSA at work. I do not send her a 1099 or w-2. This is her only income, what form does she use and how does she report the income on the form?

I would really appreciate some extra income. However, I am at the near top end of my income tax bracket and a second job would probably only be for a few dollars an hour.

Is there any way I could get around this, or another type of job I could do were the tax penalties wouldn't be as severe?

We are planning to buy a home near our children. Is there a way to put it in our children's name without a tax burden on them? This is because we could end up in a nursing home and the state takes it.

My son's father wants to claim him as a dependent. He says that since he pays child support (a whopping $300 a month) that he is entitled to, and will take me to court if I don't agree to take turns. If he took this to court is there a chance he'll win? I don't want to spend the money to go to court if I'll lose anyways.

For some reason, I thought I had to attach everything to my return. But Turbo Tax told me I only have to attach the W2's. Do I need to attach copies of my interest earned 1099's, my 1099Misc, and my Unemployment compensation. All of these forms did not have a copy attached for my federal return. Do I make a copy and attach, or not. I did get a 1099 copy for my state return, and attached that, but not one for my Federal return.

Please only answers from people that know the answer. Thanks in advance. I am waiting to mail, till I get an answer.
Mike

I am a Belgian citizen en a US resident, greencard holder, and hence have to declare taxes in the USA.
I still have a wages income from Belgium which is taxed in Belgium. I travel back and forth to be able to keep this income. Up to now I have declared this income and gotten an exclusion for it as indicated in the treaty of Den Hague. This year how ever I have heard rumors that the IRS is planning on taxing foreign income if you do not reside in that country or spend there more then 330 days, even though the income has already been (heavely) taxed. Is this correct? How can I avoid from being double taxed? I could take up residency back in my home country but this would probably endager my greencard ...

Why is that when I enter Child Care Credit $8000 that I paid last year for day care on my tax return, the number changes from "I Owe Tax" from $2,443 to $4,087? I thought it should reduce what I owe but it went the other way. How is this possible? Am I entering this in the wrong place? Thanks.

I want to file my taxes jointly with my wife and have my son as a dependent but I'm not sure on how I'd do this. Here are the details:

I have my W2 (less than 52K). my wife started working at her first job mid december but she didn't get a W-2. The first pay-stub she got was dated Jan 01-15 but she was already employed (and got paid) from Dec 18. Can I still file jointly?

On another note, my son arrived with my wife to the US on Dec 15. My son (14 months old) does not have an SSN but I read that he can appy for an ITIN for tax purposes. I also read that you can file for your returns and just place "APPLIED FOR" in the SSN field for the dependent child or submit the W7 along with your tax papers.

I guess what I'm trying to drive at is the possibility of filing jointly with a standard deduction of 10,300 plus dependent exemption for my son.

When my mother died, she left her house to myself and my 3 siblings equally. I am currently living in the house alone, paying all expenses and the property tax, though we four own it equally. Can I claim the full deduction for the property taxes since I pay them? Or can I claim only 1/4 of the tax deduction since I own 1/4 of the property?
