Or do I just need to go to local court houses to figure out what properties are on sale. I've found sites, None of them were official .gov sites or anything, and my phishing and fraud detector went off on a lot of these sites.

type into good your county name and treasurers office....you should be able to type in your address to see see your property tax info...

I live in Franklin County, OH. I just typed "Franklin County Tax Sale" in the Yahoo search box. One of the first 'hits' was the County Treasurer's official site. Try the same with your location.
