I had 3 part time jobs last yr, so 3 different w-2's. I was expecting a decent refund check but everytime i include the job i made the most from i end up owing money. How is that possible? I thought if you claimed "1" or "0" that you get the most taxes taken out of your paycheck and that i would get that back. I dont really know anything about filing taxes but i thought you always got the federal tax witheld from you paycheck back.

I recently mailed in my quarterly tax payment, and I did not move my money from my other bank fast enough to cover it in time. The check was returned back to IRS/United States Treasury. How do I contact them to ask them to try it again?

I work as a field tech for a bank. This means that I have to do a lot (300+ miles/wk) of driving. Since I have a large area to cover, I was thinking about getting an in-car GPS like Tom-Tom. I talked to a friend about this, and he said that when I get my taxes done, I should deduct it as a business expense. Can I do that?

Also, could I continue to deduct the cost of the subscription for years after the initial purchase?

Last, I have to use my own car. I am reimbursed for mileage, but since 90% of my mileage comes from work, can I deduct the cost of oil changes, repairs, and maintenance?

Thanks in advance

Last year I worked and made about $2500. Do I have to file taxes? I read somewhere that if you worked for a company and made below about $5000, then you are not required to file taxes. Additionally, college students who have work study jobs are also issued W2 forms. In all, I only made at most $4000, do I have to file taxes this year?

My grandpa and grandma signed in under proposition 13 and it was based on a long time ago. I'm talking assessment of under 50,000 when going properties bought in the last few years are assesed at over 200,000. Grandpa, before he dies, makes Grandma and him community property owners and wills everything to her in the event of his death. My mom has power of attorney of grandma, just in case. Once we take his name off the property, for tax puposes, will Grandma's property taxes change? They shouldn't because she is protected under propositon 13 and inherits that. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. I know it's a weird topic.

I work in the cellular phones industry and My company payes me through the IRS

I'm a parmenent alien card holder

there was a quiz for a cellular phone manfacture and I won $1300
Now the manfacture sent me a W9 from to be filled to obtain 1099 and report it,

They saying that they will report it if i filled the w9 or not.

They have my name and address but no SNN

Should I ignore them or fill it and send it back,,

will I get a tax audit if I ignored them/?

How much would be the tax owed for this,,

BTW i splitted the 1300 on 3 of my coworkers but the application was on my name and they have no liability,

please advice!

When is the last day that employers can send w4 tax forms to their employees before they can get in trouble?

Also, is there any other way for employees to obtain the forms quickly without the help of their employer?

I'm getting tired of waiting...
