because his place of living was not available he stayed with me and i took care of him, he also receives a disability check of 600.00 a month. but i handle all his business making sure that his money goes to the right places for his well being and when he don't have any left i take out my money and sustain him the rest of the way. can i claim him on my taxes.

You may be able to. You must have provided at least 50% of his support for the entire year. A parent does not need to live with you to be claimed as a dependent. See Pub 501, you can get a copy at the IRS website. Here's a link to it: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p501.pdf

I believe you can claim him as a dependent as long as he lived in your house for at least 6 months.. Check around more to be sure..

If your father had taxable income of $3300, or more, you can not claim him.
