You can file for free (possibly, if you qualify) with turbo tax at www.taxfreedom.com, however you cannot file electronically unless you have previously filed cause you need your adjusted gross income as a form of security. So you should be able to file but you will have to print out the forms and mail them to the irs. Turbo tax is very easy to use and goes over every deduction and credit, even things you would never even think of.

It really depends on how difficult your tax return will be. Are you a resident alien? If so, make sure to indicate that on the tax form. For the first time preparing, I would actually get some professional help - there may be a lot of things that you could deduct that would be overlooked simply because you don't know the forms or tax laws.

No. While it's more work, I would suggest that you get a Form 1040 and fill it out manually. Go through each line; even though you won't use the majority of the form, you will glean some precious information as to how your taxes are computed. This will provide you with tools to minimize your taxes as you earn more money and encounter more complex situations.

Since it is your first time filing, the IRS does require a signature the first time, so it would be best just to file by mailing it in, since you have to mail in your signature anyway. Next year you can file online
