I had $2000 worth of stocks coming into last year. However I lost $2000 that year and I don't own any stocks now. I reveived my 1099 now and it showed I did not make any profit or loss? does that mean I cannot claim the $2000 in losses? I did not get any 1099 last year. I am confused. Thanks

We are newly married and my wife only earned about 7,000 and I earned 58,000. Also, she recently got a greencard. Since this is a necessity to work are the application fees deductable?

When I left my job in NYC in late 2005, I was paid a severance package which paid me through March 2006. I've been a full time WA state resident for all of 2006 and confused how I should fill out my state taxes.

Can I get the taxes from my NYC income? Even when I wasn't in state when I collected it? Should I expect all NY state/local taxes back?

I e-filed my federal income taxes through a website I found on the irs website, but the one I used did not allowed state returns for my state (Massachusetts). I am an 18 year old student with very simple taxes, nothing complicated or anything. Where can I file my state taxes online for free? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have been overpaid on a number of occassions around £25 per time . I have complained about it and asked them to make sure they do not do this as they deduct the amount out of the blue some time later.
They have just deducted money that they overpaid over two years ago. Shouldn't they only be allowed to go back in the current financial tax year ?

I know many of you will advise me to wait and then contact the company, but I have a feeling I won't receive it because they are very unorganized and irresponsible. In fact, I only have one legitimate "payroll" check with taxes withheld, and the rest are handwritten business checks with no taxes withheld. I worked there for a total of 2 months and received a total of 5 or 6 checks.

SALLIE MAE IS THE ONLY COMPANY ALLOWED TO TAKE YOUR TAX CHECK AND ALSO ANY SOCIAL SECURITY DISABILITY THE PERSON GETS. THEY DON'T ANSWER TO ANYONE. THEY REFUSE TO PROCESS YOUR DISABILITY FORMS AND THEN TAKE YOUR CHECKS. THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO. THE CONGRESS HAS GAVE THEM CONTROL. THEY DON'T HAVE TO REPORT TO THE DEPT,. OF EDUCATION. AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO HELP. WHY ARE WE ALLOWING THIS?
