I think you can file an amended return through H & R Block. Probably should.

You MUST file an amended return on Form 1040X and pay any additional tax by April 17, 2007. Unless a fairly large amount of tax was withheld from that job, it's likely that you will owe with the Form 1040X so do NOT spend your refund until you know what the impact of the amended return is.

Block can do this for you but there will probably be an additional charge for this since it's your error.

Yes, it matters. You need to report ALL your income. Try going back through H&R Block. I've never dealt with them, but if that's who you went through the first time, they may have a program set up to deal with cases like yours.

If they don't, file an AMENDED tax return yourself (it's really not that hard), including the info from the other W2.

You NEED to do this. If you don't, the IRS may or may not audit you and fine you for unreported income. This exact thing happened to me; I was due a return, and would have been due a bigger return, but I worked a number of jobs that year and forgot to include one W2. I was audited three years later...instead of getting a bigger return in the same year, I wound up with a tax penalty of over $1000 in unreported wage fines, taxes and interest fees.

Just do it. It's not hard, and you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Go to block, let them know you forgot something.

If it was work on a 1099, you WILL owe something. If it was a W-2, whether you owe will depend on what was withheld.

They'll help you file an amended return.

If you wait for the IRS to catch it (almost certainly after the filing deadline), you'll be charged interest.

You need to file an amended return, showing all of your income including the one you forgot. Depending on how much you had withheld, you could owe or could get an additional refund.

In many cases H&R block will file an amended return for you at no additional cost.
