It is going to be a Landscape Supply Company. We will be selling mulch and other landscape and hardscape supplies. It will not be a nursery or garden center because we are not selling plants. Can someone help us think of something creative? Thanks sooo much!

I am an online florist. There are so many online florists around. How can we differentiate ourselves from the others? If you were the online customer, what would you look for (price? design?) at the online flower shop?

I saw one in a magazine called wealthy4life dot com, and another one called PAS. I know PAS is a scam, but how about the first one. I don't want to give them my name or number so they won't harass me.

I am opening an ecommerce store, but I want to know if and where you can get your business license and if you need it. How do you apply for a sales tax number? What does getting your business registered means and is that required? I live in the state of Virginia. Is there a site online to do all of this?

I am a dog walker/pet sitter and dog trainer. My client became my friend and I cared for his dogs many many times (I have my calendar of the dates.) He works in production as a grip or gaffer (i forget) got himself in debt and was paying me when he could... It seemed that he was good for his word. I stopped caring for his dogs the beginning of 2006 and moved to another part of town. The last time he paid me was June of 2006. When I contacted him late November or early December, I let him know that his balance was $2600. and that I needed to get some money from him. He has not responded to the email or returned my calls or text messages. I don't know what to do besides going to small claims court which I would rather avoid. Is there something that I could say that might get him to at least return my calls? I told him that I didn't expect it all at once but that I really needed some of the money and would like to work out a payment arrangement.
Still no response.

I'v designed and built a prototype of a product that can be used to make manufacturing/assembling things easier. It holds parts in any position and can be rotated 360 degrees. I'v tried the "INVENTION COMPANY" route before and found out quickly, what a scam they are. I know filing for a patent is the "smart" thing to do, but who has the money to pay huge lawyer fees to fight a large company with deep pockets. Sure a patent shows its my invention, but its me that has to take them to court. And pay all the lawyers fees. All a large company has to do is change your invention slightly or reverse engineer your idea alittle and make it their own. Anyways, I'm thinking of just manufacturing my product myself and throwing it up for sale on the internet. I dont want to spend all my time and money sweating over a patent. Someone copies it, oh well. That doesn't mean I cant keep selling my own. Comments or suggestions?

A mason was working on my neighbor's house and asked me if he could do some work for me to. As I was leaving for work, he said that he was almost done except for some touch up that he would finish the next day and would really appreciate getting paid immediately, because as he had mentioned earlier his wife is in the hospital getting a hysterectomy and he has to pay a bill soon . I gave him the full payment. Less than half the work was done and he does not answer any phone calls. My neighbor reports a similar experience. The worker even borrowed a couple of my things and seems to have taken some other items as well. Can I say sue him without an address or prevent him from conning other individuals by reporting him to something more than just the better business bureau? Do banks have any process through which checks to dishonest fly by night repair men would be delayed in clearing after proper police and other paperwork is filed? Any advice would be very appreciated!

This is basically about a small business that the owner and one employee run, and both have to be there to get the work done.

What do small business owners do when their employee calls in sick or otherwise doesn't show up to work on short notice?

Okay, I'm a teenager, still in HS, not close to graduation, but not a freshman.LOL. Anyway, I'm interested in starting a business this summer. A shoe label, to be specific. I have the funds, but what do I need, do I need a license, anything, please. I don't want to pay for an advisor, so I'm going to play it by ear.
