It is going to be hard to track this guy down in order to sue him, because to sue him you'd have to have court papers served to him; if you don't know his location, it's going to be hard. You could hire a PI to track him down using the cell phone number and name; it's going to be costly, though.
However, if you wrote him a check you are in luck because you can tell your bank to put a stop payment on it. The bank will obviously charge you a fee for this, however the guy won't be able to get a cent of your money. You better move fast, although you could be too late, if he cashed the check at the counter at your one of your bank's branches.
If he deposited it into his account, then you may just be in time for the stop payment to take effect.

might you prefer to be prank-talked approximately as to on the wee hours interior the morning and probable on your deep sleep mode? No - then do not ask your self why there are caller IDs because of the fact some people have the main suitable to get some sturdy and sound sleep. And specific, kudos to the guy who invented caller IDs so we people (who're wide-spread and sleeps on our handy time) can show screen calls on each occasion we'd like... And that is not humorous to make prank calls - that is purely basic stupid, with a capital S!

Search your state's department of consumer protection website to see if you can find his license number by his name. Buy all of your local newspapers and scan the classifieds to see if he is placing ads, with some effort that could lead to him. Contact an attorney by phone, many will offer some preliminary advice for free to let you know if you have a case (they are motiviated to find a way to sue). Good luck!

Well Barnum is right...there is one born every day.
Take as life experience and kick yourself in the rear......then hire a legitimate contractor to do the job.
But don't worry if the job he was doing is right or up to code......I'm sure it is(sarcasm).
