There was some damage in the bath and it was noted in my move out. She said she was going to get her carpet guy to quote it for repair. (I had the carpets cleaned the day before my final walkthru). No visable dirt, no smell. She said all was fine.A week later she calls and says that her carpet guy found urine under the area in the dining room after pulling up the carpet. Why would he pull it up unless he was looking for something to charge me with? And also the carpet has not been replaced since the complex opened 4 yrs ago. Now they are trying to charge me for it. He was only suppose to quote for a repair to the bath. It doesnt sound legal. Do I have any rights? Nothing was done to the carpet after I moved out. I had it cleaned the day before and then had my walkthru. I need to look at my rental contract. But am going to fight them. The walkthru paperwork only notes the repair to the bathroom.

Is that information publicly available? Looking at records filed in the county (Collin, Tx. & Dallas, Tx) seems to reveal only the amount of the original loan. For so-called short sales, knowing how much is owed on the property is essential. Subscription listings always list that info. Where do they get it?

I am thinking of purchasing a condo in a downtown area.my options are:
1. 5th floor 845sq ft east facing corner unit. windows in every room. 1 view overlooks vacant parking lot, the other overlooks the entrance of a historic hotel to be renovated to condos. Its noisy since it faces the street, but I'm told by R.E agents that the resale value will be better since it has views.
2. a 945 sqft interior unit with views of other interior units & lightwell, no neighbors, except unit across lightwell. This unit is also on the 5th floor (there are 12 total) so i'm not sure how dim it will be in that unit.I believe there is some natural light that comes in at some point in the day as the sun passes. This unit is priced $20,000 less.
Both units have birch wood floors, granite countertops, Toto kitchen & bath fixtures, bosch appliances, italian cabinetry. The building is awesome, not sure which to choose. The agent tells me that interior units are difficult to sell.which unit would u prefer?

I want to investment in some land, it could be anywhere in the United States. What areas are going to be the next booming areas? The last one I recall was Arizona. Let me know.

Also, what do you guys think of the land being sold on Ebay for a few hundred bucks? It's legit for sure because if any one is stupid enough to lie, its a FEDERAL CRIME.

Let me know your insights

We have a one family house which we own and used to live in. We currently own and live in a two family house since 1997. So we collect rent from the house we live in ($1,100)and from our other house($1,450). We are thinking of selling our other house to payoff our mortgage on our current residence. We owe about $150,000 on a $175,000 mortgage with an 30-year fixed loan at 7.75%. So we are paying about 2k a month for the mortgage. Our other house is probably worth between $300k-$400k. We have owned this house since about 1990. So if we sell it we would be able to payoff our mortgage and then have the rest for ourselves after taxes etc...Or we have thought about refinancing, but maybe it would be better to payoff the mortgage?

In the scenario to consider, the building and property would be owned by a separate entity, and the city would be acquiring them via eminent domain from the owner of the property. I would like to know if the owner of the bar/restaurant inside this property would need to be fairly reimbursed for the cost of the business, or would they be reimbursed for lost income and moving expenses only, or something different or worse then this?

In this scenario, the bar is in Hennepin County, in Minnesota.

I signed to purchase a home for $700,000. House will not be done until April 2007. Between now and then, if the prices of the homes drop, will I be obligated to pay what I signed up for or do I only finance what the house is worth at the time?

We signed a lease to an apartment but din't recieve an actual tour of the apartment we would be renting. After we got the keys we went up there and found out that it was horrible. Smelled of mold, very creaky floors, walls were paper thin and we could hear a loud entertainment system through the wall. Anyways, my 90 year old grandmother who will be living with us couldn't take it. We did not move in and we turned in our keys to the office and left. The lady at the office mentioned that she would report us to corporate for breaking a lease. She said, "Good luck." But we felt decieved. We put a stop payment on the first month's rent check that included 2/5 of the security deposit. The other part of the security deposit was the $300 holding fee that we paid 20 days ago. Couldn't stop payment on that. Too late. The lease contract said that we could be held responsible for the security deposit if we broke the lease. Where do I stand legally here. Will things turn out alright for me?
