I have an apartment in Boston I'm renting for the first time. My tenant just sent me a check for the security deposit. I've heard this should be placed in an Escrow Account. Where should I open one and what name should be on the account? How does it work? Thanks!!!

The landlord came by and demanded we let her in for inspection. We told her she should give us some notice and she could come by tomorrow at 1. She said we broke the lease and she is going to evict us. Can the landlord just come by anytime without notice, and we have to let her in.

there are no advertised stipulations of the sort. just when rentee was called, they said they will not rent to a person with a certian occupation. this is for the state of kentucky, usa. any answers will be helpful.

i just got a frantic call from a friend who was in a semi-bad taxi accident last month and ordered byher doctor not to return to work (waitress) for 45 days, she said she was served with a five day notice after she got home from the hospital and since she won't be going back to work and waiting on insuarance yadda yadda she won't be able to make the payment in 5 days, can the fact that her doctor ordered her back not to work keep her from being evicted?

Do I pay off the mortgage and not have a house payment? True there would not be an interest deduction at tax time, but I still have the annual taxes deduction of $7,700. The money I save would be not paying the large interest with my monthly payment, and that looks pretty tempting! That would offset the tax-break. I am 39 and looking for knowledgeable feedback. Thank you.

My grandfather paid off the house for my dad and then my dad took out the a loan for a second mortgage. When my grandfather died he gave me the house. The next mortgage payment is due in January. If I am going to be paying for this loan how do I get it out of my fathers name? And will I be paying off his credit? I was told that if the house had a deliquent tax then I could pay that and the house would be put in my name. This is confusing and I don't know what to do. Help me please...

I don't want the lot payment and the contractor is just starting in business. He has a friend with years of experience, What way is there that I get my price(no more payments) and he can make the deal.. The lot cost 385K near the ocean, and there is a loan for 303K on the land. He wants to build a spec home on it. The land is currently 8.25%. What deal structure would maximize both of our situations?

Is it the kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms. What about these rooms do you want and what is a big turn-off. What one room, if in poor repair or out of date, would cause you to not buy a house.

Apparently the owner has multiple rentals and is not concerned with this property. The home has been rented in the past. Since the renters left (about 1 yr ago) the house has been vacant.
