I have been offered from my credit card company a cash advance up to $20,000 with a .99% APR for one year. with a maximum transaction fee of $75. My idea was to take the money and put it into a money market that will get me around 5%, make the minimum monthly payments, and make several hundred dollars in interest.

I have been considering this and it seems like a good idea to me. I don't need the money, the sole purpose would be to make interest. I don't see any downside here. What do you think? See the terms below.

"† The promotional Annual Percentage Rate (APR) offer for Balance Transfers and Check Cash Advances is 0.99% through your statement Closing Date in December 2007. These promotional rates will extend through your statement Closing Date in March 2008 if a new Balance Transfer or Check Cash Advance posts to your account on or before your statement Closing"

Any tips on meals for one person?

I live alone & I want to save money. I find that sometimes I buy things and they go bad before I get to eat them. It's a waste of cash and good food. I love to cook but it's not always worth it for one person.

Any tips on living alone, managing money and planning meals?

We can afford to not need Social Security during those 4 years. Since the longer you wait till you apply the more you get would this be a smart move? Or would having not worked during those 4 years have a negative effect on how much you would receive?

I am in need of information on personal grants. Let me specify. None of the websites that advertise buying their book or cd. Not for school use either. One that specifies grant use for women or minorities. I have heard that you can get a grant for anything, where can I obtain information?
Please and thank you.

Someone at my work told me that 401K is guaranteed money but I always thought that it really depended on how well your investements were doing that determined your pay out at retirement. I told him that you are not guaranteed anything and you could actually loose money with a 401k if the market does very bad. This is true right, I think the misconception people have is that 401k is guaranteed money. I am not against it and I invest as much as I possibly can in it, but I wanted to make I was telling him the right thing. to me, 401K are more like potential supplments for retirement. Any help would be appreciated regarding 401K. Thank You
