I was working for a great company .. making the most money I have ever made before. At the age of 20 I was pretty successfull...... getting greedy I decided to buy a 2006 ford escape for 25,000.00 I ended up losing my job and I was out of work for 1 1/2 months. I just now got back to working and I am trying to pay for it. My car payment is 500.00 a month.. I looked into selling it but I dont think anyone would have that amount in cash nor check to purchase it. I tried taking it to a car delaers to see what they could do for me.. and they basically said i am "upside down" and theres nothing they can do. Does any one have any suggestions about what I can do?

I currently have a savings account. Are there any IRAs or CDs I could look into, instead? I would rather keep my House savings in something high yielding that I cannot touch.

I put myself in this situation, and I know it, I need some advice to get out.
I had a good car for an amazing price... too good to be true. Everything went wrong at once. I needed another car and fast. I traded in my car and ended upside down on a loan. about $15,000 for a 2005 Nissan Sentra. Which I hate. I made the decision too fast and purchased it. My payments are about $300. I had insurance but it's cancelled now, it's been cancelled since about May.

the credit union added collateral ins. I am not sure what my payment is yet, but I am sure it has at least doubled. I am already half a month behind on my payment. I plan on getting ins on the 15th (that's when I get paid) but I know my payment has gone up. I just don't know if I can afford all this. Should I insure the car, trade it in for something I can afford? I am so scared...

I only have about $600 to work with every pay day.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. *thanks*

Hi! I have a sudden windfall of about $8000. I want to use the money to pay off some debt, but am confused in which order. Here is the laundry list:

1) CC #1: $5000; 3.99% interest (it's low b/c I transferred)
2) CC #2: $2000; 15% interest
3) Student Loan: $10,000: 10% interest (variable)

I was thinking of paying off my two cc's in total, and using the remaining $1000 towards the student loan. I know the conventional advice would be to pay off the highest interest loan first (student loan), but I am hesitant b/c a) paying off my ccs in full will boost up my credit score more; b) the psychological bonus of paying two items in total; c) I couldn't pay off the student loan in total anyway w/$8000.

Advice is appreciated!

On 10/5/2007, I had $126.19 on my National City Bank checking account. Past several days I used my National City Bank Card to purchase things and I spent things like $1.05 for drink.. about 10 items with $2.00 or less. I also spent things to purchase that cost me about $20.00 or more for each.

I login my online banking everyday and this morning when I got on, it showed 9 items for overdraft fees for $34.00 each so
total overdraft fees showed as $306.00.

If bank posted things that I purchase in order I purchased
I would only need to pay 1 item for $34.00 but the bank posted
everything from highest amount resulting 9 items of overdraft fees.

I visited my branch office but office manger there is very unfriendly and keep saying that I spent money when I didn't have enough in my account. But that is so wrong because
if they deducted everything from things that I spent first then
I would be overdrawn by that much.

Is there any other way I can get my money back?

He is in a lot of credit card debt, and is changing jobs at the end of the year. Please list all the cons to this. He wants more financial freedom & to be free from his debt but I know he has better options that this! He is convinced he is getting a large sum of money as an inheritance so he doesn't need to worry about retirement, so what are the cons besides losing this money he has saved up?

I received several savings bonds from my dad's ex-wife's father. He has held them for several years after their divorce and the bonds have my ex-stepmother's name on them. I really would like to change that since I don't want her to have them should anything happen to me...

Can anyone help me out??

I recently changed job, and am making 25% less, with the money I have in a MM and my little bit in 401k (30k) I could pay off my house and then eventually pay off my cc# debt (which is about 20k, then my car which is 8k). This way I can afford to live at what I earn, and sock money away for retirement, in addition to joining my new companies 401k. I see this as a big chance to get a leg up on life. PS I will turn 35 years old in a month. Any advice would be appreciated- I just don't want to be one of those people whose house gets taken away if I loose my job or get seriously injured etc... I like the idea of knowing I will truly "own" my home! Thanks!

Here's my problem. I had a 401k plan at my old job but now I'm going to be starting a new job that doesn't offer a 401k plan. What do I do? Do I cash it out? can my old job simply "hold it" for me until I roll it over to another company? Or do I transfer it to a IRA savings in a bank? Are there any other options or are these it, what's the best thing to do?

I have a friend that owes 2 months in back child support totaling $1,500. This is money that he simply does not have, because he has been paying ALL of the bills for his soon-to-be-ex and their kids for the past freakin year, because she doesn't have a job and refuses to get one. Not only has he been paying all of the bills (including their groceries), but he's also trying to pay off a ton of debt that she incurred during the 17 years of their marriage,

Does this seem fair to you??
