I live in LA and rent is very expensive. How can I generate at least an additional $200-300 per month. My rent is $1000 for a 2 bedroom, and it makes no sense for me to get a single at $800 or a 1 bed at $900. Any suggestions? I have not found a roommate yet. Anyone know how or where I can get another job?

I'm just wondering - if I gave my social to some work from home company - what could they do just having that and my name? Are there very well set up scams out there just phishing for personal information? What does a person do if they make a mistake other than call the BBB? There's already a caution out on my social - so they probably can't do anything anyway right?

I want to start selling on ebay. I have a paypal account and I always buy things off of ebay using my paypal account. When I win an auction and pay for it through paypal, it is taken out of my checking account. Now I want to start selling things on ebay. When someone wins or buys an item from me and pays through paypal, will the money go into my checking account or will it go to my paypal account?

My score is already very good (>700), will getting more credit cards or increasing my limits on my current cards help? I pay all my bills on time. I want to boost my score so I get better credit cards with lower APRs.

This "gentleman" is selling his book, AMERICA'S SECRET CASH GIVEAWAYS, for ONLY $19.95 plus $3.95 s&h. He is supposed to reveal ways to get money for any number of needs/ reasons. I really think it's probably a hoax and merely a way for HIM to get money for his own needs/ reasons. Does anyone out there know anything about this particular "offer?" Thanks a lot. vandottie

I'm working really hard to save up $100,000 in five years so I can quit my job and make it on my own working for myself. I'm smart, educated, and hard working. The problem is, I don't know where I should start. I've considered real estate and the stock market, but neither of these really appeal to me. I'm looking for some ideas and suggestions. I know no one will know the perfect thing for me because I did not mention interests and strengths, but I'm just testing the water for some ideas! Thanks!

I was talking to my friend about a particularly bad time I was going through with money. I couldn't afford a house payment so he offered to let me borrow $1600.00. I accepted. This was in December.

I was going through a divorce and this guy cares about me a lot. I care about him too but then I wanted to work on my relationship with my ex so I got back with him. I kind of let the money slide and didn't pay him back at all. I didn't tell my husband about this.

In June, my friend gave up on getting money back from me and asked to make it a gift. I told him no, I would pay.

He emails me in August and told me that I need to pay him back because its ruining our friendship. I guess I said something about buying a WII in front of him. He said I was taking advantage of him. I got really offended and told him to never talk to me again. I felt like he was taking stabs at my character as a person.

Anyways I sent $50.00 and said no need to contact me anymore and he sent it back ripped up.

I am currently living in a guest house with no rent, and have no other bills to pay. My job doesn't pay bad, and i could easily afford the payments. Perhaps there is a place you know about that will work with me even though i have no credit at all. I'm only trying to finance $5100.00

My grandmother just admitted to me that she's tens of thousands of dollars in debt... When she dies will that debt fall on my mother (her daughter)? My grandmother is a widow and lives with my mother, and my mother is really in no place financially to take on such a burden. I'm surprised my grandmother kept this hidden from us for so long...

My wife just received a collection letter from an agency that bought an old (alleged) debt she owed to Verizon from 1995. Doesn't New York State law preclude collection of debts of this sort that are more than six years old?

I am currently contributing 6% to my 401K to get my employer to match it, then i have maxed out my Roth IRA. I still have additional income to invest and i want to know if i should start laddering some CD's, or should i put it in my 401K? I do not need access to this money now, but i want to have large CD's available when i get to retirement age. Im thinking that if i start laddering now (i'm 40) i can start out small ($1000 CD's) and slowly grow them over time.

I guess my question is which option would net me more at retirement?

ie; Property bought with help of a grant (29 percent of total house price) from a key worker scheme for nurses, police etc. There is a fair bit of equity in the property but I'm still having trouble finding a lender that does this, although I am assured there are some out there. Been taken to the point of completion twice before being knocked back for this reason. Has anyone had success with this?
