I recently received a deposit into my bank account that I have know idea about. On the bank statement, it states that the deposit is for 11 + thousand dollars for an overpayment from recovery. What is this and should I be free to use this money? I can also recall not receiving my tax refund one year, could this be a back payment?

I have an account that I hardly ever use anymore. The money in the account was very low, up until I got a letter in the mail stating that there had been a deposit of almost $12,000. I have no idea where the money came from, but it has been in there for almost a month now. I spoke with several people and no one knows exactly what to do about the situation. My mom occassionally deposits money in my account, but never that much. If it was their mistake, wouldn't they have caught it by now? What should I do?

I was coerced into taking a home equity loan along with a mortgage refinance four years ago. The max on the loan was 15,000, of which we spent around 9,000. Since the time we did this, the monthly payments have continued to climb because of the high interest rate, and late fees. The loan has been maxed out for several months. In February we turned the account over to a credit counseling agency we are using. Today I received a summons that will account for nearly 20,000. I have never had a late mortgage payment; can I end up losing my house because of the home equity loan?

I am a 33 year old single mother of 2 teenagers, a girl and a boy, I have a high school diploma from 12 years ago, but no college education, I have lived in 4 different towns in 17 different addresses and have had at least 20 jobs in the same amount of time, none of which lasted more than 2 years. My childrens' fathers are unable to help with child support due to incarceration. I am at my wits end about how to get ahead. My bills always get behind, I have had my utilities turned off several times in the last 2 years, my rent has gotten behind, and I rarely have money for groceries. Combine this with the fact that I live in one of the poorest states in the country, North Carolina, that pays one of the lowest wages in the country, I need someone to tell me how to get ahead and stay there. Please help

I live in the USA (originally from Leeds) and am surrending a policy that will yield 12000 pounds. I am planning to deposit this into my USA bank account from my UK bank account but wanted to put the question out.... does anyone know if there is a better way to do this so I don't get hammered with commission fees, handling etc. Its only a one time transaction.
Thanks for your input. Ruth
