OK I had a checking account at National City for a while but after a incident that got the account over drawn and it ended up getting closed. At first I didn't think it was big deal as I was able to open a new checking account at a credit union where I had a saving account but when I tried to set one up at Chase, they said they couldn't due to fact that National City needed to be dealt with. Now I've heard there are some places that will look past this (Wal-Mart supposedly has some guilt-free checking account) , but I dont't wanna go anyplace to shady or nothing.

I am a care giver to a 90 yr old man. And he is also a neighbor I have known for almost 50 yrs. I take him to the bank a couple of times a month. Today we went and he was not feeling well and asked me to cash his check for him. I also have an account with this bank. Fortunately it was his check made out for cash so he would have some spending money. They did cash the check.(because it was his and made out to cash), BUT, in the future when we go and he has a check made out to him and he doesn't feel well how can I cash this check without being on the account? I took his ID in with me, but until they saw it was a "cash" check they were not going to cash it. Are the tellers or a manager allowed to go out in the parking lot with me and verify that he is there? Or what should I do? Thank you

If I give the money directly to schools, they get 100% of my money, instead of 34%. Can I deduct the full dollar from my taxes? Does my tax bracket enter into this at all?

I'm a 24 year old single mom of one....I do not live above my means in any way yet we usually don't even make it paycheck to paycheck. It is so frustrating not being able to just do....needing an oil change is a struggle nevermind my son wanting to do tae kwon do. I see so many people that have so much more but make around the same amount of $ and it makes me want to just go ahead and build some credit card debt. I'll die owing somebody something, right? I'm not the type of person that would splurge on nonesense, I would use it when I can't make it to pay daycare instead of going to my mom is trying to prepare for retirement next year. I feel like I will never get ahead otherwise....is it really that terrible to have some credit card debt at a young age. Any advice would be most appreciated.

I have FAITH that it's gonna gradually improve eventually after some ups and downs, but am concerned about the security and dependability of any investment actually.
Am curious about other's opinions out there who've had a LOT of experience w/this over the yrs.

Based on my credit report, it appears as if I have established credit six years ago, and have a few minor blemishes. However, 2 of the three problems were paid in full, and are closed accounts, but still appear. One was as a result of missing two payments with best buy, the other was a medical bill that was sent to collection. Would it help to write to these people? Credit is really important to me. I truly believe it says something about a persons character. Some day I hope to buy a house, but most importantly, I am looking to buy a car in the next few months, and its important that I have the best credit possible. Thanks. Also, I have five credit cards, YES 5, very stupid on my part, but I plan to pay them off in full before the new year. Should I keep them open though?

My husband and I own our home. We purchased it over 6 years ago. (It was a repossesion) Got a great deal. Even in the slow market we probably have $100,000 in equity. The draw back with the repossesion is it needs some TLC. We need new windows and siding. These items are big ticket items. Probably about 25,000 together. Our current interest rate on the mortgage is 6.25%. Should we get a second mortgage, a heloc or a line of credit to tap into this equity? We both work and have decent credit.

I am 28 years old. I have no credit card debt. I have $18,000 in a high yield savings account (5%). I have $2200 in Mutual Funds (made 12% so far YTD). I have $12,500 in my 401K. I own a house in Texas that I currently rent out. The rent pays for the mortgage. I rent in California and cannot buy as I am here only for a short period of time. I save approximately $1500 to $2000 a month. Where should I put this money? More mutual funds, high yeild savings, 401K, IRA or other? Do I have too much money in the high yield savings account? I am willing to take an above average amount of risk but nothing on the crazy risky side! Need some financial guidance world...please help! I know I'm not doing too bad, but I know I could be on my way to financial freedom in the future with some right guidance. Thanks!

That might sound odd but what I mean is, why do websites like http://www.autopilotprofits.org make lots of sales when sites like http://www.yourfinancialneedsmet.com/50pebooksale hardly have anybody buying what they offer?

It doesn't make sense when one is $27 and the other is 50 cents.

Do people not trust things that are cheap or something?
