MY husband goes back to work tomorrow thank God. We just signed up on public assistance 3 weeks ago but are having a problem now. I got a disconnect notice for our gas bill in the mail. How do I take care of it? He won't have a check for a week and even that check won't be enough to cover the gas bill. Do I take it in to them or what? My caseworker never mentioned what to do about bills.

We are constantly seeing credit cards and loans directed at people with no or bad credit. What about cards for people with an 800+ credit score? What cards are most attractive for people with good credit and why arn't they advertised?

I know there is more money (for companies) for people with bad credit since they usually don't pay on-time thus they have bad credit and credit companies can charge fee's and interest. And poor people are a $7 Trillion dollar industry.

But what about the rich? Or People with FANTASTIC Credit?

First some back-story.

I have a small dispute going on with my HOA which got sent to collections. The dispute is a special assessment which I planed on paying in full at the end of the period. There is also a normal assessment which is paid every month on the 24th (Due 7 days latter on the 1st) . Apparently they wanted monthly payments for the special assessment. I pay all of my bills online. The check from 12/24/06 was lost somewhere, and the account was sent to collections.

Fast forward to 2/07

I received a letter from this agency, and they added on $250 or so in fees, to the back special assessments, and the missing 12/06 payment.

I call them, and was told I would be called back. No call ever came.

I call back in a few days, and was told by the collector she already spoke to me and that she already told me how much was due. I have phone records proving no call from their office came to me.

I recently pulled my free credit report and FICO score. I have had impeccable credit for 10 years, with a recent score of over 750 when I bought a home two years ago. In December, a creditor called to say I was 60 days past due on an account I had opened in August to buy a television. I moved to Atlanta in August, opened the account with my new address, but they sent bills to an old address that did not have mail forwarding. I have no idea why they were sent there. I cleared up the account, the creditor placed everything back in good standing - even admitting fault in my account notes. Unfortunately, they reported it as 60 days past due and have told me they can't change the reporting to the credit bureaus (they referenced that they can't change it in the letter I received because of the Fair Credit Reporting Act). It is pulling my score WAY down. How can I fix this problem? They admit they were wrong about where they sent the bill, but they won't pull it from my report. HELP!

I've heard conflicting stories. A lot of people say he's helpful, and others say he gives out inaccurate information to debtors. What's the deal? http://www.budhibbs.com/

I am 26 years old. I have made a few mistakes in my life. But when I was pregnant with my son, I was in and out of the hospital a lot. I racked up some severely expensive hospital bills, among other things, and I got over my head in bills. This all happened before I was 21. My husband and I decided that bankruptcy was our only option. I am a lot more mature now and I would like to get back to working at a bank. Banking is what I know best because I worked previously for a bank. I loved it. I just want to know why I can't get a second chance. I'm not a theif and I don't have a criminal record. I am a church going person and would do anything for anyone. I just needed help and bankruptcy did that for me. I just wanted someone else's perspective on this.

Thee and a half years ago my father cosigned on a loan with me for a car. We used a local credit union. The loan term was for 4 years. Recently my parents were doing some refinancing and they found out that my dad was the only one on the loan! I've been paying the loan for the whole time and never missed a payment. At the dealership both him and I signed papers. I even have a letter from said dealership thanking both of us for our purchase. In fact early on I arranged with the bank to auto-debit my checking account for monthly payment. Now they are saying that back when we filed for the loan they didn't do cosigned loans. I hate to be cynical but it is hard to believe a lending institution didn't do cosigning in the year 2002. It could also be a mistake by the dealership. Do I have any recourse with the credit union to update my credit history? I'd like to stay out of court. At the same time I could really use slash need the benefit of an improvement in my credit score.

Hello everyone,
I have debts from the last several years.

But my question is, is it better to settle on a debt if the collector is willing to, or pay off the entire thing?

I know either way it will hurt my credit for a period of time. I also know it will not reage them, as long as I pay it in one sum. It just turns on the current status for so long until they diminish several months later from the for-front.

I was wondering if you can have inquires removed from your credit report. I recieved a copy of mine and my husband's credit report and there have been 75 inquires in the last 360 days. I know that too many affect your credit score.

I had a car reposessed four years ago. For the last two years I have really cleaned up my act and have been paying back everyone I owe, thanks to credit counseling. Now however, I need a new car. I went to the dealership and the best they could do was like $330 a month! What are my chances of getting a used car loan from my bank and/or credit union (I have a bank and belong to a credit union). BTW, I checked my credit score the other day and I am at a 640. Any insight would be appreciated!

I heard this from my mother, who said she saw it on a news broadcast. I'm trying to establish a good credit line, and I was thinking about doing what everyone else does and charge two purchases, pay them off right away, and then cancel the card. But now the card companies can give you bad credit if you do that? I need to know if this is true or not. Can someone please point me in the direction I need to be in?

Why does FreeCreditReport.com say they provide free credit reports when they charge you $12.95 a month for services. I have some websites listed below that could help answer your question.

I started uni back in sept 2003 and opened a student account with HSBC. This account was used rarely but was in CREDIT by about £3k for the 3 years i was at uni.

On completion of my course in June last year, my account was automatically "converted" into a graduate account. This account had a £1500 interest free overdraft up until May of this year.

I withdrew my £3000 and shoved it into an ISA last summer. I then withdrew another £1300 (from my £1500 interest free overdraft). My account has not been used since.

Then, after recently applying for a credit card (last wk), it got rejected. Pulling up my credit record showed HSBC had marked 3 months (sep-nov 06) as "unpaid", linking it to non activity on my account while it was in debit.

This has seriously screwed my credit rating. I was not aware they would/could do this. This overdraft was mis sold to me otherwise i would not have used it.

HSBC are arguing its correct, when I was 100% unaware they could do this! What can i do?
