MY husband goes back to work tomorrow thank God. We just signed up on public assistance 3 weeks ago but are having a problem now. I got a disconnect notice for our gas bill in the mail. How do I take care of it? He won't have a check for a week and even that check won't be enough to cover the gas bill. Do I take it in to them or what? My caseworker never mentioned what to do about bills.

Before going down to the office, I suggest you call your caseworker first. Even if you show up without an appointment, you'll most likely have to wait hours and hours before they can get you in. Call, ask, and then see what you have to do.

Also, if you received a disconnect notice, you should probably contact the company and let them know that you've hit a hard time. They might be able to help you out.

Good luck dear.

Check with your caseworker, she or he should be able to work out your problems until your husband's pay checks arrive.

Contact your caseworker; she should be able to get you emergency funds.
