I owe a $500 bill, $200 bill, a $70 bill and I still owe $11,000 on my car I've been making payments on all three of my bills. They started out alot higher. My credit score is between 500-600 is a result of my younger, less responsible days.

I hear that AMEX cards are good for some reason. Is it the rewards program? Is a charge card good for my credit score? Is it worth the $150 annual fee. I have excellent credit and just want to know if this would help or hinder my score and if its worth it.

I have an aspire credit card which I haven't had any trouble out of but I want to get rid of it before its time for the annual fee of $150. What is the best way to get rid of it. Cancel it and then pay it off or pay it off and then cancel it? And if I cancel and then pay off will that hurt my credit?

My husband got a letter in the mail saying he owed $400 to them. When he called to ask what for they said he had a jc penny card 20 yrs ago and that they just bought the company or the debt from the company and if he didn't pay them it would go on his credit report. We assume this debt was already on his credit report for 7 yrs and then dropped off. It doesn't seem fair that the same debt can go on the credit report for another 7 yrs. We're a paycheck to paycheck family and we don't have $400 bucks to just send away to every person that sends us a letter. How do we know these people are for real? This is 20 yrs old, he doesn't even remember this. Is that legal to put it on his credit report again?

A collections agency keeps calling me for a debt that got paid over a year ago to Cingular Wireless. I had closed my account, but still had a balance. I had my balance paid within a month of closing the account, but some how they didnt record it and send it to collections. I explained to the collections agency that the balance had been paid, but they keep calling. When I called Cingular Wireless, they told me they were not able to help me. What can I do???

I have heard plenty of different things about credit history and what effects it. My question is are they true. If you have a lot of credit cards, does that ruin your credit too? And how do you know if you have good or bad credit?

Can these be closed ? Does having these lower your score? Are these open accounts that can be reopen/used again? What the best way to clean up your credit score?

I am disappointed with my credit card bills. This is because of the charges it is imposing after the other. It is my practice to pay immediately whatever my due, but I noticed that the credit card is imposing much. My last action is to pay everyting and close my card, but up to the last time the bank charged me for closing my credit card.

i'm going through a rough time finacially, i'm going trough the process of going bankrupt.i got an attorney for bankruptcy, but have not finished paying the fees to start the paperwork.now with that in mind, last year i got a truck at a dealer, my monthly payments are @750 per month and that payment is too much for a titan nissan, i did not think it through in the begining. i think this is part of me going bankrupt.so my question is can i break my contract, or get finance with something of a lower value, even though i'm in the process of bankrupt.

I applied for a eq line of credit . The bank want to place all my debt in the loan . I disagree because some of my debt has a much lower interest rate than what the bank is offering. I probably won't get the line of credit because I can't agree to their terms. Since I changed my mind ,will it hurt my credit score??
