I have been out of the workforce for several years while raising a family. I'm finally looking to go back to work, and I am hopeful that I will get an interview with the most recent place that I applied. It is a social service agency serving developmentally disabled adults. This is right up my alley - while I didn't get a degree in social work, I was a senior when I dropped out of school. I have experience working in another social service agency, as well.

If you have any good tips at all about interviewing, I would greatly appreciate hearing them!

Thanks.

I got fired las Nov. I was awarded unemployment for 26 weeks. Just today, I got a letter in the mail stating that ABC company vs. Me and telling me in a couple of weeks I am scheduled for a teleconferance etc. I did not appeal anything. Is the company appealling? Are they going to send me to jail or want me to pay back all of the unemployment I collected? I don't understand. I was fired wrongly anyway stating that I broke a code of ethics blah blah blah.

i have this rather awkward in behavior, ex-boss who I really have a good relationship but it is different since he is no longer the boss and there is less in common to talk about i.e. nothing work related.
The other day in front of a few colleagues he said I was a bit of a *****...totally unexpected and i think he was shocked at what he said too. But it was too late. We all laughed and I semi glared at him.
any tips regarding when i see him again- i briefly saw him and he awkwardly said hi and chatted with some one else and that hurt a little bit- why can the be friendly enough to face me after he used a swear word. Am i over reacting? My goal is just to network and keep good professional relationships with everyone

Should I disclose the fact that I will be travelling to the UK for 2 weeks in September in a job interview I am going to next week? Is it appropriate to give prospective employers a "heads up" on this? Will this harm my chances of getting the job?

Hello,

I am in a "different" type of situation. While I am an experienced customer service manager I have just received my associate of arts in accounting degree. My goal is to get into the accounting field to gain experience, and I expect that I will need to take an entry-level position to do so. I have sent resumes to several employers and gotten no bites.

I am pretty sure I need help with my resume, so if anyone has any suggestions on how to get over this hurdle I would appreciate it!

Also, I wonder if the fact that I have so much management experience and make a good salary scares off employers when I apply for entry-level work. What do you think?

I've been there for a while and they asked me if I was planing on staying "permanently" when they hired me and I said yeah. BUT, I hate it and I have been looking at different job postings that I feel would be more interesting. If I get a new job, can I tell my boss that I got recruited to a better paying job? I want to leave on good terms and I'm afraid if I tell them I'm quitting because I got another job, they'll get pissed off especially since my boss specifically asked me if I was planing on staying with the company for a long time.

I applied for a job at adult correctional facility and after the interview I was told that I was to young ( 19) for the job. I recieved a letter in the mail about 2 months later telling me that I was reffered to a youth rehabilitation center. They told me that
it is an orientation and I need to bring 3 reference letters and my resume. I am very confused .... I never interviewed for this job and they are calling me in for orientation. Isn't this strange. Any insight will be helpful. Thank you.

Neither of us knew it was the best time to began dating. Unexceplty I am going to be moving to this city much sooner then I had thought. I had been emailing her a couple times a month recently. I had tried to set up a lunch meeting to see her again. However she is extremley busy so it is hard to get her to commit to anything.
