If your HD is like the one in my neighborhood, your training will consist of learning to hide from customers, avoiding eye contact, sighing loudly whenever someone brings something that took them an hour to find to the register to pay for it, working for a heartless corporation that undercut costs and drove really helpful hardware stores out of business and then underpays their employees so that the top 1% of executives can have salaries that let them wash their stretch Hummer limos in imported champaign while the checkout clerk goes home to feed her children Ramen soup with tuna fish.

I took a drug test and a background check at Home Depot, I don't do drugs and I don't drink so I figured my test came back OK and my background check said I was eligible. The guy at Home Depot said it could be as long as two weeks and it has been almost 3 weeks. I called the guy and never heard anything back, I can't help but wonder what happened

Orientation is where you fill out our W-2's (tax withholding) insurance, etc. It is also a chance for them to tell you about the company, its procedures, rules, what is expected of you, what to do if you have a problem etc. They also introduce the heads of various departments and usually take you for a tour and introduce you to people, get your uniform and badge stuff like that.
