To oversee workers doing their jobs in order assure the work is done properly, correctly, and in a timely manner. Verify that the employees arrive on time and don't leave early. Different companies have different job descriptions. Some might do scheduling, customer satisfaction, etc.

That is a loaded question. All supervisor job descriptions are different. The one quality a supervisor must have is to get along with other people and be a leader and motivator. A supervisor is only as good as the people that work for him/her. Once you fill that obligation the rest is easy.
