I'm 18 and will go to college in the fall for nursing. I need a job and would love if it could have some kind of purpose. I really want to make a difference now; instead of waiting until I graduate from college. I would really like to do something that makes a difference, whether that would be organizing fundraisers, running food/clothing drives, helping sick people, etc. I do have my high school diploma and am a really fast learner. My question is: Can I get this kind of job with no degree? Where do I look if this is possible?

(I live in RI and have worked retail for 9 months and can also provide excellent references.)

Thank You!!!

In the 1980's, you were expected to put your job first in your life. If you were half dead, you showed up and worked. Now, everyone says My family comes first, I don't care about my job. Neither of these attitudes does it for me, each one stresses me at work. Will the pendulum ever strike a good balance?

I already have a pretty specific idea of what I want to talk about, and I'm VERY serious and passionate about the subject. How can I get started. There are tons of organizations I know that deal with my topic (anti-drug use), and I'm wondering if anyone with some more experience could get me going in the right direction. And how I should start practicing speaking, etc etc.

What jobs take you out from behind the desk and out into the world? The whole world.

I'm not looking for an overnight business trip to Chicago or L.A., but something that allows you to see the world while helping others and making money.

I just graduated with my undergrad and am looking for a job. I am going back for my Master's in the Fall, but am looking for a job now.
I need to make upwards of $13 an hour to cover daycare costs. I don't have much work history, I was a server, hostess and bartender 7 years ago (8yrs experience) and have worked in a daycare and as a nanny for the past 6 years.
I'm looking for something that would be first shift, and I need some ideas. Any suggestions?

I haven't outed myself at work yet because I really don't think it is anyone's business. I work with a woman who has something to say about gay people every day and I am at my wit's end. I'm ready to just leave, I don't need the stress in my life. My problem is I don't want to give two weeks notice because I'm pretty much going to out myself when I quit and I don't want to deal with her nasty remarks. Is that wrong?
