Hard work pays off in time, but laziness always pays off now.

I'm at work maybe 40 hours a week and I do maybe 6 hours of actual work per week. Those people that work hard are just suckers we all laugh at on break.

Hard work is only rewarded with more work.

I don't think that's true most of the time. If you find this happening to you, it's time to find another job. I am a supervisor in a factory and I don't abide laziness or bad attendance. You can be the hardest working person in there and if you miss a lot of time I will get rid of you.
On the other hand, I will give 'slackers' a chance to change their ways. I bring them in the office and talk to them and if I don't see any improvement it's goodbye to them.
I feel bad for people who are getting the shaft if they are truly good workers. Sometimes if you feel your boss is being harder on you than on other people, it may be best to take it up with someone higher in the chain.

It does seem that slacker kiss *ss better and the hardest and best workers just think they should be recognized for the job they do, but often are not. You have to sing your praises oh and the other one-it's the sqeaky wheel that gets the oil . . And then there is management. . .about how they rise to the height of their incompetence and all the workers then have to deal with them. You have to play the game and play it well. . .

Good question. I think it's because they can trust you, therefore, you're stuck working the longer hours. They feel better leaving someone there who won't mess things up.

On the other side, you're a respectable person so you don't cause arguments and make things difficult. The slackers do, and to avoid any confrontation, the boss gives in to their every whim.

It seems backward doesn't it? I think the world needs better managers.

The slackers don't mind riding on someone else's coat tails. The hard workers don't settle for second best so when they see slackers slacking off, they jump in and rescue them.

I don't know I'm feeling for you, I had the same issue for years. It drove me crazy to the point that I am now an independent contractor, I work for myself. I realized that people putting in minimum effort were getting the same or more pay rises than me who went above and beyond everything I ever did. I just don't get it.

perhaps the person doing the firing believes the hard workers are a threat to his/her job. the slackers will never be a threat.

My husband is a very hard worker and he has never "gotten the shaft". I think that is a misconception.
