One of my co-workers has no tact. She constantly says that I have caused problems in the work that she is doing. She says this in front of my boss.

I am actually training her to do my job and she says that I am wrong in what I tell her. She does this to others also.

I just ignore it, but may say something soon if she continues to do this.

Is it right for co-workers to disrespect you like this?

My friend worked in the network architecture area and was considered the best in the company by all his collegues, hands down. He was an American Born Chinese, nice guy, and was Chief Network Officer who b, one step under the Vice President seat. Another Network Officer (whiteman) who was not as good, was socially compatible with the Vice President, they play golf together and hang out at the sports bar after work. All the collegues do not considern this white guy to be better than the Chinese guy in setting up and solving architecture issues and design. During a merger, the V.P. fired the Chinese guy and hired his white buddy to be the Chief Network Officer. Everybody in the company was stunned and knew that it was an example of social promotion. This happens alot in America, when you have white people at the hem. White people get rid of the competition by non-whites because they fear their talent, so white people will take a bite off the bottom line to save their white buddies job.

I have always wanted to open up my own restaurant, or club, or hotel, or something along those lines.

Where does someone get the money to do this, and what advice can you offer me to help pursue this dream through the rest of my life?

PS. Don't let the name sway you and bias your answer.

For quite a while I have wanted to become a doctor. I would go into pediatrics and have my own practice, therefore making my own hours and I believe the pay on private doctors is slightly higher than others.

I have also, however, wanted to go into a Government agency, like the CIA or FBI, or especially the Secret Service. I am concerned about the pay here, however, and I don't really want to go to all of the rigorous training and physical requirments for such a low pay check, you know?

Law has always been another option for me. I suppose I could become a lawyer, but I just don't know...

I'm a little stuck. If you could offer your opinion that would be great!

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

PS. Don't mind the name, please don't let that sway your answer. Let's not be biased, here.

I got my degree in accounting, and just got a job in an accounting firm. I will be making $45,000, but will 40-50 hours a week. I am 22 and think that now my life is over and all i am going to do is work and have no fun in life anymore even though i make alot more money. I know my other friends did not go to college and work at fast food places but have fun all day and night, but now i think that those days are over for me. Is being 22 too young to start working your career already? Or will i still get have a life and have fun?

I am 18 and and my hopes and plans revolved around moving from FL. to CA to be with my GF then attend college. I have achieved moving to CA, in the bay area and am living in my apartment with my gf. Everything was going good, I am working full time at a pharmacy just ready to start dental assissting course for the fall semester and then it became some rough terrain. I got rejected for Pell Grant because my father cashed out his retirement fund because he needed the money to just pay the bills...(so i looks like he is making too much i suppose) i can't claim independence on that... and since i haven't been here 1 year... paying all out of my pocket will be about 2k for the semester. Thats my first problem. THEN, my landlord just called recently and said he needs me to move out in about a month because he will soon rent the above floor out and his mother is going to take my studio.. (i am under a 12 month lease and it has only be 6 months) the rent was cheap for this area so, instead

theirs this guy at work who's output of work is way less than others. I dont care but a coworker seems to let it bother him. He's approached the supervisor with it but the supervisors does nothing about it because its very hard to fill and keep someone. Also, he thinks that its playground stuff. however, it has a effect on moral. so, the coworker that it bothers taken it over the supervisors head. which is fine but manager is at different location and has a hand off approach. All he sees is the revenue from the customer and the job still gets done. it maybe not efficient but its effective. I have been there for years and ive seen people come and go but they self destruct on thier own. My question is should the coworker actually pursue this to the manager or should he try to overlook it until that person selfs destruct?

I am working at a contract position. The company headquarters is moving soon so I am training someone to do the work that I do.

She is very agressive and "macho"acting. She constantly tries to find mistakes in my work or work that I show her. She also wants to show that she is smarter than anyone else and can learn quicker and make the process better.

How should I deal with her? Other contractors also feel the same way.

She is the kind of person that uses you when she needs you and otherwise does not talk to you. They say Hi to her in the hallway and she does not respond.

I don't want to say anything to my boss. Its best just to grin and bear it.

Does anyone have any other tips? I think if let her be, she will dig her own grave or make her own strong position. I am just her to do my job which if it includes training her, that's what I have to do. I am at least earning money for it.

I'm thinking of quitting and retraining full time at uni as not happy in current job and line of work. I'm scared I'm not doing the 'right' thing, how can you ever know what a good career is for you until you try it? Has anyone packed it all in and done this? What were your experiences? Did it 'work out'? So many questions!

I'm 24 and since the age of 18 I've been working with law firms and have got my salary up to £30k. When I tell my friends and others my salary they go crazy and my mum is so proud of me earning so much. My husband doesn't even get £5k a year but he still has time off to do what he wants and I just feel like I can't work this hard anymore and need to take a break. The problem is I'm with a good law firm and to find another one would probably be really hard but I just feel as though I really want to take a break from it all. I've worked non-stop for the past 7 years and I just feel as though all I ever do is work work work - I don't care how much I'm earning I'm bored stiff and I'm young and my marriage is suffering. I want to try and do other things with my life and perhaps find a part time job at a law firm which would cut my salary in half, but I don't care. My weight is increased because all I ever do is sit at my desk and eat - I used to be slim and trim, now I'm just fat.
