I am 30 YO Male just married. I am an experienced Systems Administrator currently working in New Jersey. We would like to move to Florida, but I don't know how to go about it. Do I set up a phone interview first? How do I find good companies to solicit? Etc. All help and suggestions are appreciated.

Let me give you my Florida experience. I moved there late 2002 and lived there until 2005. The work force is horrible especially for professionals. If you do not know anyone it is very difficult to secure a job and for some strange reason they don't even want to bother with you if you are not a Floridian. There employment laws are non existent so no employee protections against rights being violated as what we would receive in Jersey or where I am (back home) NY. Several of my friends moved to Florida (Miami) around the same time I did. Each of us with the exception of 1 and that is due to his mom having enough money to last 10 lifetimes found our way back home.

go to career builder and search florida jobs, set up 3 interviews on consecutive days, book a hotel room and a rental car, mapquest all the interview sites and print them out. after each interview scope out home sites, I recommend a trailer park for the first year, easy to get out of if something goes wrong plus it's easy to save for a down payment on a house if all goes well. try areas with a large population of retiree's, there is usually alot of work there. good luck!

Well you have being young going for you. You could research on Monster.com or Hotjobs.com for positions in the area you would like to move to. Also, online research local newspapers. You could do phone interviews, but it's probably going to be easier if you were living there already and in a position to have a face to face interview.

You didn't indicate if you would be renting or buying a place. If you want to buy a place, I can have someone call you right away and they may even have a line on a position/job. If I can help further, please email me. Good Luck!

we live in Florida and I would not recommend it to anybody right now we have some of the highest home insurance costs in the nation right now and we dont have enough jobs here in Florida to support the ppl we have here now . and be prepared to pay over 300,000.00 for a house . and at least 4,000.00 a yr for house insurance and not to mention what property taxes we are paying . I think you would be better off staying in New Jersey and we also have hurricanes . are you prepared for all of that ? I would urge you to think twice before coming to Florida . People are leaving here in droves !!!
