It's no secret that CD sales have been decreasing as a result of internet piracy and legitimate downloads of people wanting only the hits and not the rest of the tracks. What would you do if you were in marketing for a music company?

I've worked at my current job since 2003, but I've had other side projects that have started at various times. Should I organized the experiences on my resume by start date or end date or importance?

I was supposed to enter a report and explain the results of this months work to my boss. I did so a week before the end of the month. Now the report has been sent out to all the managers and VP'S all around the world and the slot where my number is entered is zero.

I had informed my boss that I had already got a 1 for this month. Now my CEO is in town and he does think highly of me. Do I email him and tell him of this situation or let them make their own assumptions? I know my boss has done this on purpose. He knows this report can make me look stupid. Tell me what can I do...

Last week my boss was out on vacation, and our labor relations guy discovered something that made him go ballistic. Part of my job is to forward along personnel actions, but I received an approval report that was labeled incorrectly. I forwarded it along for signature with the item that corresponded to the label, which resulted in the wrong thing getting approved, which means a bunch of prison wardens will get an early pay raise. He's holding me responsible because I'm the one who routes these things, but I think the person who incorrectly labeled the write-up and everyone who signed off on it after that are at least equally responsible. They're throwing me under the bus because I'm still in my probationary period and I think they want to wash me out anyways. Well, I have to inform my boss about it when she comes back today... I don't want to take the full blame because I don't deserve it but I don't want to appear like I'm fingerpointing either. How should I go about this?

I got the bechalor degree in economics and doing my master degree in business administration right now. Unfortunately, I have never formally worked. And do not have much working experience. I cant see my future. I know the first job is very important to my career. Currently a lot of job required the applicant should have at least two years or more working experience. I am blindly sending the resume but seldom give me any feedback. I got much disappointed. Actually, I dont know what should one who have few working experience can be put in the resume esp in the achievement column. I guess the HR will throw such kind of resume directly to the bin without hesitation. Sometimes I just thoguht probably so many years study is only a kind of waste. What should I target? what should I do?

Is there any idea beside sales, lawn mower, MLM, or anything that doesn't pay check but will pay the same day you work?

I know I can't make $100 an hour but $100 a day shouldn't be that bad either.

Who have suggestion?

I lose 10 minutes of work-time per day. That's an hour per week that I'm forced to work for free. Why can my employer make me punch a time clock and then not pay me for all my time worked?

When I clock in 5 minutes early, that extra time is disregarded. When I clock out 5 minutes late, the extra time ignored.

Ok, I graduated from a good university..with a degree in international affairs. It's been 2 years, and I have realized it is extremely difficult to get into my ideal field..so right now I just want to gain some administrative experience. Why is it so hard to land a damn job?! I have been on probably 8 interviews in the past 8 months, and NOTHING! I mean, I am an extremely hard worker and all my previous employers would attest to this. But WHY is it so hard to get an entry level position? Granted, I have been dabbling in various different jobs (retail, restaurant) for the past 2 years while trying to figure out what I want to do, but now I want to actually start a career.

What am i doing wrong? I feel like so many employment places want someone who has a straight and narrow path towards their goals..and i just want to find something i'm passionate about WHILE gaining some practical experience.

How can I convince people that I am very hardworking and good enough for their company?

My first job, my commute was 3 minutes away. i hated it...lasted a year

My next job was 20 minutes away...i liked it the first year but hated it more and more as the 2nd year went on...and it drove me to drink a LOT

my new job is 70 to 120 minutes away. i really like it and its exactly what im looking for. The commute is really rough...and im worried that it will get to me. I have looked for closer jobs and there just isn't anything. I still have the chance to go back to my last job...but I don't think the last job really is the best thing for me mentally and physically.

Moving is out of the question...I just bought a house a few months ago..

Should I go back to my old job and wait to find something closer...or stick it out...I would want to stay at this job for several years...since I bounced around so quickly with my first two jobs...

I am 17 years old, and looking for a job. I applied for a job at Peet's Coffee and Tea, and I spoke to the manager. On my application, I wrote that I was not available weekends, but I was available 8 am till closing most other days (except two days which, I was available until 5 pm).
He told me that he is looking for flexibility, and if I'm not available weekends, I will probably not be hired.
If I had applied during the schoolyear, I would only be able to work weekends (like many highchoolers work). He would definitely turn me down in that case.
Plus, I was applying for a part-time job, not full-time.
By saying that open availability determines any sort of employement, employers can just exclude highschoolers (and probably college students) from employment. Is this legal?

My friend works for the state of FL and her supervisor is only allowing her to document a certain number of hours on her timesheets even though she is working much longer than what she is told to log. This person collapsed in front of me while working due to many health issues, most of which are brought on by stress. Her supervisor has been dragging her feet on filling the empty positions that are supposed to be filled and it is because of this that my friend has to work the extra hours. She feels threatened that if she logs what she actually works that she will be fired. Could her supervisor be held accountable in any way if she falls seriously ill or god forbid worse while working under these conditions? Specifics would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and god bless.
