Just the same way you told us. If you feel more comfortable write your employer a letter stating something like this:

Dear Mr/Mrs.
I am writing you this letter to inform you that as of such and such date I will begin going to school and will no longer be available for full time hours. I will only be available to work the following hours due to the hours that I will be in school. As I truly enjoy my job and wish to continue working here so therefore I hope that we can come to some agreement on this. I would like to schedule a time when we can sit down together in private and discuss this matter further. Would this time and this date work for you? If not please let me know when would be most convinient for you.
Thank you in advance for understanding.

Sincerely,

Your name

Its better to have it in writing than verbally this way there is no question that you didnot notify them in time.

Send an email regarding the date school starts and the hours that you will be present as work. State it like it's an unchangeable fact. You don't want them to come back and say modify your schedule around us.

Say

Dear Boss,

I will be starting college on August 1st which will change my status at the firm to part-time. I can work MWF from noon to 5pm and T & Th from 1pm - 5p for a total of 23 hours per week. Shall I forward this note on to HR as well so they can be in the loop?

Thanks,
Me

Tell your boss as soon as possible, so they can plan on how they'll deal with it.

They don't have to let you cut your hours and still work there. They can look for someone else instead, who is able to work the hours they want.

Good luck.

First of all have it in writing. (Because when you ask they'll probably say they need it, and that way they won't be able to schedule you unless you have your availabilty).
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
I WILL BE STARTING SCHOOL ON AUGUST **TH AND I WILL ONLY BE AVAILABLE PART TIME.THANK YOU AND HAVE A NICE DAY.
SUNDAY: AVAILABLE 8:00AM-3:00PM
NEXT DAY: AVAILABLE WHENEVER YOUR AVAILABLE
SO ON AND SO ON.(and with your availabilty in writing they can't schedule you when you'll be at school, and if they try to then say hey look i gave you guys my availabilty) Just be straight forward about and act as an adult and you will be treated as one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOOD LUCK.......

Just tell him. Your boss should be glad you are getting your education. Most bosses will work with you on hours when you are going to school.

Sister, just give it to him straight.
Be like " Hey, I'm only gonna be able to work part time when school starts." and he's/she's gonna have to be ok with that.

Tell him now so you won't surprise him later. If you wait until later you won't give yourself any options if he chooses to not change your shift. If he knows now then you have a month plus to make necessary changes if things don't go the way you hoped.
