I was supposed to enter a report and explain the results of this months work to my boss. I did so a week before the end of the month. Now the report has been sent out to all the managers and VP'S all around the world and the slot where my number is entered is zero.

I had informed my boss that I had already got a 1 for this month. Now my CEO is in town and he does think highly of me. Do I email him and tell him of this situation or let them make their own assumptions? I know my boss has done this on purpose. He knows this report can make me look stupid. Tell me what can I do...

Yeah I would most certainly say go to your CEO. If the person that is directly above you is the cause of the problem and you know you completed what you had to complete and can show you did, then if it is the only way to resolve the issue and you have good pull with the CEO, I would say go for it. Hope this helps out and that everything goes well for you......Jay

Even though you know the CEO, I would reccomend that you first get all of your facts... if there was change on the part of the report that you entered 1 then I would go to the CEO... But even if you have all the facts be very careful because it bite you in the end....

I think what you are saying is that your boss is intentionally sabotaging your work to make you look bad. The only reason for this that I can think of is that he wants to fire you, and this will give him an excuse. I doubt that taking it above him, and going directly to the CEO is going to make much of a difference. If your boss wants to get rid of you, he will find some way to do that. I suggest that you start looking for another job.

If you have the distribution list you can send it as a PDF and no one will be able to make changes. You could put in your email that you noticed an error and you are sending a corrected version. This way you are not blaming your boss and you show that you are paying attention to what they are receiving that you have prepared.

I would definitely bring this to your boss' attention first. he is your supervisor and ultimately responsible for you. It may have just been a clerical or honest mistake. If you escalate this to the CEO and it was in fact just an oversight, you would have created huge damage for no reason.

Go to your boss first, and make sure that it is not just a clerical error on his part. Why do you think your boss would want you to look stupid?
