my dad, who is a financial risk manager at the local energy business, got me interested in investment bankers. i think i know the basics, like that they advise clients on stock, and that they manage stock. but i dont really know that much about them at all.

i was wondering what the job entails. what would you do in the average day? i was also wondering what i should be doing to prepare myself for a career as an investment banker?

I’ve been here 4 months. It’s great, I get along with everyone. I used to work on another company doing the same thing, but my boss was such a terrible person. She made everyone feel real uncomfortable. I was fed up, so I looked for another job, so I could get away from that tyrant. I’m so glad I did because I’m happy here.
I get a long so well with everyone, the human resources girl even let me in on a secret. I was chosen among several candidates, 2 of which were ex-coworkers from the same department I worked with my same crazy ex-boss. So out of 7 people who worked for ex-boss, 3 of us got interviewed by my new boss.
I’m happy I was the one, I’m so glad I don’t work with that ***** anymore.

But, if you were my new boss, and practically interviewing half of my old department, what would you think of my old bos?

My boss has been doing some interviews for an administrative assistant position. One of the questions she asks in the interview is, "What is your favorite animal and tell us why you like it?" My boss feels whatever animal they choose reflects who that person is, ie the characteristics of the animal. I can see how she might relate, but I find it to be an unjust question. One woman said her favorite animal is a a sea lion because she has had a stuff animal sea lion since she was a little girl. My boss took that answer as her being lazy because sea lions do lay around a lot.

What do you think?

I am just applying for university to study accounting and finance but I dont know what to do. I live in London, but my boyfriend studies in Univrsity of Kent. I have applied there, but it is not very good for accounting and the only reason I want to go there is because of him.

I rather go to Essex or Birmingham. I just cannot make up my mind. It's so hard for us now coz we only see each other at the weekends. I want to be with him so much but then I don't want my career to suffer... I just don't know what to choose. Anybody having an idea how to solve this?

I'm having difficulty determining which should be my major. I had initially leaned towards Sociology, but have become increasingly interested in Political Science.

So, in addition to the research I intend to do, I thought I'd ask for the general consensus here as well. Which do you think is more marketable and will get me the best and highest paying job? I want to pay off my student loans and my family's house as quickly as possible. Plus I've reached the age where I've realized that interest in noble causes and passion doesn't really matter- it's all about the almighty dollar for me now, and I don't really care how that sounds. Thanks!

I will be getting a master's degree in teaching so that I can change careers from publishing to elementary education. I start school in March.

I am so incredibly nervous that I'm making the wrong decision, and I'm scared that I won't like this career path any better than I liked the first one.

Has anyone else gone through this?

Needless to say I have been here for a year and I just had my annual review and he gave me a 3% raise. I left my old job making 42k - took this job making 38k with a promise of 42k at the end of 90 days. I have been here for a year and now after my raise i am still not making what i was promised. My boss expects me to do a cost report which is due January 31. Without it the company would cease to be paid by the state.

No one can come in off the street and do this report.

Should I move on find employment elsewhere and charge him $2,500 to do the cost report. By the way we didn't get any annual bonus this year either. Also finding gainful employment is not very difficult for me I am an accountant.

What would you do?

I have searched and gone into numerous sites under USAJOBS. When you think you have the site you need, it starts to send you to varies other sites which, leads to areas that do not pertain to your orginial search.
