I know job applications will say they're equal opportunity employers, do not discriminate based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc..., and all that. But come on. Nothing is 100%. I bet some employers are somewhat lying when they say that. Right?

Reference letter for Bob Smith, sent to the HR dept of the new company he has applied for:

To Whom it may concern:

1. Bob Smith, my assistant programmer, can always be found
2. hard at work in his cubicle. Bob works independently, without
3. wasting company time talking to colleagues. Bob never
4. thinks twice about assisting fellow employees, and he always
5. finishes given assignments on time. Often, Bob takes extended
6. measures to complete his work, sometimes skipping coffee
7. breaks. Bob is an individual who has absolutely no
8. vanity in spite of his high accomplishments and profound
9. knowledge in his field. I firmly believe that Bob can be
10. classified as a high-caliber employee, the type that cannot be
11. dispensed with. Consequently, I duly recommend that Bob be
12. promoted to executive management, and a proposal will be
13. executed as soon as possible.

Regards,
Project Leader

I work for the local Government and wish to cut my hours from full time to part time. I am told I can do this if I retire and return to work after one full day's break from the Service. I am 60 and can return to work part time and should be able to draw on my "private pension" which I assume is my LGPS - am I correct in assuming this?
